Product Reviewed: Color Tips Marketing Report

Review Title: Colorful indeed, but not enough
Date Reviewed: August 10, 2007
Just looking at the book description and the actual introduction, the book already appeared quite informative and interesting. It kept me absorbed as it took me through the basics in color like the color wheel and the nuances in color like value, intensity, tint and shade. It was a bit like reviewing Art in school – only this time not only for appreciation but for generating business. I also like how the book included some interesting information on how the brain processes information on color.

On the practical side, the book discussed appropriate colors for specific businesses like banking, health and beauty, and fast food. It also brushed on the different cultural contexts of colors. Unfortunately, these are only two of the brief and not so many practical color applications discussed in the book. The language became loose and verbose from the middle towards the end and kept repeating in different ways how important color is. Though it discussed at length the intended effect on the audience, it did not dwell much on what exactly should be done to get that effect, or what exactly made a particular design successful.

Overall, the book was heavy on theory but lacked in practical advice.

Review Title: So this is the secret
Date Reviewed: August 13, 2007
Very engaging and informative. Andrew Hansen let me in on his “secret” in a breezy, enthusiastic and seemingly effortless fashion. The report has a flowing quality – much like the flow Hansen advised to apply in article writing – that it is very easy to read. While I still believe in traditional rules in style and grammar consistent with Strunk and White’s “Elements of Style,” this report made me think that web content writing is a different world altogether and that some rules may be modified or even violated altogether.

After the introduction, the report already began offering useful information, particularly on what makes an article ineffective. Hansen also gave tips on how to do research without consuming too much time. He also shared his “Golden Formula” which is his advised structure for article writing. This section was very helpful as Hansen included one of his articles as an example to illustrate how to use the formula. A bonus towards the end is his tips for re-writing articles.

The only nitpick I have is the occasional grammar lapses and misspelled words – even in Hansen’s sample article here. While I appreciate the useful information I got from the report, I would also appreciate if it were double-checked before being uploaded. After all, editing and proofreading are also important. A grammar lapse or misspelling slows down a reader – and thus interrupts the flow of reading.

Review Title: One-stop guide for the basics of cat care
Date Reviewed: August 13, 2007
Anyone who is planning to own a cat, especially a beginner – and even veterans – would find this book helpful.

The book gives a caveat at the beginning on caring for cats, which is important as not all people may be really inclined to take in these furry creatures. It gave all the basics – from choosing a breed to proper feeding and health maintenance, among other things.

I found the section on integrating a new cat helpful as my first cat was very territorial, thus fighting with the new cat I brought in. The report also gave information on proper care of the cat with regard for animal rights but without compromising your peace of mind – and your furniture – as well. It also offered useful advice on probably one of the difficult things to do to a cat – how to give it a proper bath without it going amok. It teaches other tricky things like putting and walking your cat in a leash.

Review Title: Useful tips for online businesses
Date Reviewed: August 13, 2007
This is a good read for people with online businesses, particularly those selling products online. It gives useful tips on writing articles – and how to have these articles in the least costly and most effective way – to market your website and/or the product you are selling. It also outlines options on how to market your articles and gives the best strategy to make your articles viral, reaching as many people as possible for the longest time. The report also included the links to where you can submit your articles.

The report also discusses the pros and cons of article marketing and how it may be good for some but not for everyone. This is important to consider for online business owners who are still deciding on how to do their marketing.

The report was written in a light, flowing manner which makes it easy to read and absorb. Each chapter progresses smoothly to the next. There are a few problems with grammar, but these are very minimal and do not really weaken the message of the report

All in all, the report was very informative and engaging.

Product Reviewed: Cash Sucking Sales Letter Secrets
By: Liz Tomey and John Hostler
Category: Ebooks - Silver & Gold Members
Review Title: This might help suck in some cash
Date Reviewed: August 14, 2007

A very useful read for anyone who wants to sell a product through sales letters. The authors first explain how valuable sales letters can be to generate sales before taking the reader to what makes an effective sales letter.

Though it is already common knowledge among sales people that the customers’ needs are first, the authors demonstrate just how to apply this principle in writing winning sales letters. What has been particularly helpful to me was the discussion on the difference between features and benefits and how knowing this difference can make or break the sales letter.

The authors also point out the most-read parts of the sales letter and the opportunities they present. Aside from the content, the authors also give tips on the proper layout and font type, size and color to use to attract the prospect.

Also entertaining and arguably useful for sales people is how the authors created an analogy between the effective sales letter and the effective salesperson. This might just help salespeople in writing sales letters.

The e-book is a bit long and is already repetitive in some parts, though, but the final checklist in the end helps to let the reader absorb all the relevant information.

Review Title: Your checklist for healthy dating and relationships
Date Reviewed: August 14, 2007

While this report is just a reiteration with some additional insights of the already many books and articles on dating and relationships, this is particularly useful as it compiles all the important points in other books, particularly on the sections on ABCs of healthy and unhealthy relationships.

The ABCs here can in fact serve as a personal checklist for healthy dating and relationships. Since love sometimes – or even often – clouds logic, this checklist can serve as a constant reminder to keep things healthy. The tips on good communication, balancing intimacy and distance, among others, are good examples. The report also offers ways in resolving conflict, even in budgeting.

The report is quite easy to read. I even found some parts funny and entertaining, like “Neverland,” the author’s term for arguments with the “You never” accusations.

The recommended links within the report may be useful if you needfurther reference.

All in all, this report is a light, easy and informative read.

Review Title: Not really fun getting thin, but easier this way
Date Reviewed: August 14, 2007

People who want to lose weight but are having a difficult time giving up their favorite – and fattening – foods may find this report helpful. In this report, Blythe explains how the other “scientific” methods of getting thin failed him and how his own worked. Blythe, though, cautions that his method may not be for everyone before sharing his success story.

Blythe seemed to employ stream of thought writing, which may explain why his introduction is quite long and dragging before he got to the point.

Also, the title “The Fun of Getting Thin” is a bit puzzling to me as the report chronicles Blythe’s struggles in getting thin and mentions other people’s difficulties. At the end, in fact, Blythe declared “This isn’t a frolic. It’s a fight.” So unless Blythe meant the title to be sarcastic – though this too is not clear – the title should be changed so as not to mislead people. Upon seeing the title, I expected light, entertaining read but was instead given a blow-by-blow account on the hardships of losing weight.

All in all, though, the report – particularly the part about Blythe’s experience – is informative.

Review Title: Sometimes cool, sometimes lukewarm
Date Reviewed: August 14, 2007

Those who hope to increase their sales through online marketing may find the tips in this report cool. The report shares the simple, practical marketing methods they did to their websites and even reveals how much their sales increased through these methods. It even gave links to websites to illustrate how the “cool methods” were applied.

For the very meticulous who prefer statistics and market research, though, the advice here may not be for you. The tips here are based on the author’s experience and not from a representative sample of online businesses. It is your decision whether to apply the tips here or not.

At times, there are also vague statements like “There’s solid evidence to say” without saying what is this evidence.

Overall, the writing style, the layout and the design were quite good. The light bulb in the beginning in particular, From time to time, though, I would spot a grammar lapse – which is not at all cool. Proper editing and proofreading would make this report cooler.

Review Title: So this is how you do freelancing in the web
Date Reviewed: August 15, 2007

For the people out there who want to give up their full-time job and take control of their time, Delavera offers useful and practical freelance tips and how-tos in the worldwide web. From writer to digital executive (similar to online secretary/administration staff), Delavera shows what to do to build your resume and where to look for projects.

Delavera begins by saying that the demand for freelancers in the web is greater than the supply, and thus, you will never run out of projects if you know where to look and how to market yourself. Delavera shows how to do just that.

In terms of presentation, the use of different colors and diagrams in the report makes it more readable. The only problem is the layout, where there is a sidebar in almost every page. While having a sidebar may be good for print publications where the reader has the option to read the sidebar after the entire article, it interrupts the flow of reading for online publications.

Review Title: One big sales pitch
Date Reviewed: August 15, 2007

This e-book promised to be a very good, informative read from the very start. The six truths about any business – a good reality check – at the first part caught my attention and got me reading on to the next sections. It kept me interested while it discussed the advantage of leverage and having multiple streams of income, but as I kept reading, I expected to learn how to create multiple streams of income – as I thought this was the focus of the e-book – and NOT how to market my business or product. While the information on marketing and different marketing methods here are quite extensive and maybe even exhaustive, I expected practical, step-by-step advice in creating multiple income streams, basing on the title of the e-book.

What is even worse is though it DID teach a bit on how to create multiple streams of income, it focused on selling and marketing the e-book itself as the way to do it. It appears to me that this e-book was written purely for that purpose.

Review Title: The bottom line in any online business
Date Reviewed: August 18, 2007

At the end of the day, it is the profit that matters, not the traffic in your website. This report drives home that point, particularly for online businesses focusing too much on traffic.

The best way to do marketing – viral, “infectious” marketing - with the least amount of effort is given as simple tips in this report. The report shows how some businesses overlook the little things which can spell the difference between enough profit and “unlimited” profit, as the report phrases it. For example, it advises that for every call to action, it is crucial to show the customer exactly how to take action. And it shows just how persistence can pay off.

The report is written in a light, attention-grabbing – and -holding – way. What would have made it better, though, was the inclusion of more practical examples in the application of each tip. Stats would also help.

Overall, this report is quite a useful read.

Category: Ebooks - Silver & Gold Members
Review Title: This can help keep those ties bound
Date Reviewed: August 18, 2007

From the very start, this e-book cautions that it does not substitute for a marriage counselor – to which I agree. However, this e-book can serve as a guide and a reminder for couples to make their marriage work. By outlining the essential ingredients of marriage and giving case studies for each ingredient, this report is a good read for any couple who is married or is planning to get married.

The e-book gives a wide range of problems that can occur in marriage – from the age-old case of infidelity to the usual seemingly irreconcilable differences. With regard to the essentials in marriage, I especially like the part about communication. The line there “If marriage is the tie that binds, then communication is the fabric by which the tie if made of” could not have explained it better. At the end, the e-book gives a very hopeful message that while your relationship may have problems, you can still have that happily ever after.

Review Title: Good advice, but more please
Date Reviewed: August 18, 2007

An interesting, thought-provoking report that explains why you should do niche marketing and exactly what is in it for you. The report provides a comprehensive guide on how to identify the best – and untapped – niches to market to. Through the use of specific tools included here in the report, you can choose your niche market. The report also offers niche marketing tips for the “lazy entrepreneur.” I also appreciate that the report provided links for further reference.

I would have liked to see more practical examples, though. The report also put too much emphasis on selling information like in e-books without delving on other fields. Also, though it said that people are not averse to paying for information online, it did not expound much on how you can entice the customer to buy your information product.

All in all, the report offered good, substantial advice but I expected more information

A very informative and compelling read. This e-book shows anyone can be rich and how to do it. From the start, it gives a very eye-opening insight – that before you can be rich, you should recognize your own value first – and that you are worth more than a million dollars. It shows just how powerful your mind can be to make you rich – or poor.

This e-book takes the reader through more powerful insights and through several mind techniques from simple affirmations to subliminal reprogramming. It offers simple, practical advice on how to do subliminal reprogramming to reprogramming with the help of professionals by proving links to relevant websites. To apply the mind techniques, practical exercises are also given. The reading experience becomes all the more compelling as the author shares his own stories of making the principles in this book work for him.

One of the most powerful insights in this e-book which really struck me was “There are a million ways to make a million dollars. Pick one that works for you.” Truly, there are infinite ways to make infinite income.

A quick, very easy-to-understand guide on building your blog with Blogger. Joesy gives the information in step-by-step fashion with illustrations. The red underlines and arrow marks in the scanned Blogger pages also help in directing the reader’s eye and in clarifying the instructions.

This e-book is helpful not only in building personal blogs but business blogs as well. Joesy shows in detail how to make use of AdSense, newsletter, Paypal payment buttons, and more. It also offers cautionary tips at the end on what to do if your blog is accidentally deleted.

I would have liked instructions on how to include a tag board in the blog, though, as tag boards work well in getting feedback from visitors. There are also parts here that I would have appreciated more explanation and examples, particularly the use of templates. I would prefer seeing advice on the best templates to use for particular purposes.

Review Title: Time management advice for office workers
Date Reviewed: August 19, 2007
For any office worker, this book can help in managing time better – getting the job done and having a quality life at the same time. In a light and entertaining fashion, it discusses the top time killers and time savers. The advice here on having a to-do list daily, weekly and monthly is particularly good advice to take control of your time.

Gearhart offers useful tips on how to fight procrastination, how to save time in office meetings, and others. It also teaches the reader to value the time of other people.

Though the e-book is already informative as it is, it is too much confined in the office setting. Looking at the title alone, I had expected time management techniques regardless of whatever job you have – an office job, a business, or whatever. The book should be re-titled to avoid misconceptions.

The e-book was a bit dragging at first, with too many examples and flowery words talking about time, but became serious and informative later on. The poem about time at the end of the book is a fitting ending.

This e-book offers nuggets of useful, practical advice in copywriting. Through 100 concise but information-packed tips, it teaches the reader to write copy that will make the customer buy once – and again. Specific tips on how to make the customer feel important (e.g. personalizing the offer, etc.), how to give incentives (particularly earning money) to potential customers, and how to build your product’s attractiveness and credibility, are only among some of the points included in the e-book.

The e-book not only gives tips in writing copy but in marketing in general. Even the look of the website, including color themes and layout, is discussed here. It also touches on the use of certain tools like message boards to market your product.

To make the e-book more readable, though, and to help the reader remember the key points here, I would suggest highlighting the keywords or key phrases in each tip.

Date Reviewed: August 19, 2007

Written lightly and to the point, “404 Self-Improvement Tips” offers 101 tips for four areas in life – finances, success, health (particularly getting in shape) and relationships.

In the money-saving tips, the e-book gives a wide range of tips from the simple shopping bargains to the crucial mortgage.

For the success part, keeping a positive frame of mind, setting goals and persevering – no shortcuts – until you reach them, and continuous learning are among the advices given.

The health section not only focuses on weight loss but on wellness of mind and body, giving tips on meditation and other mind exercises as well.

The section on relationships particularly gives tips on how to keep the flame burning and minimize conflict.

I appreciate how the information was presented. With headings for each tip to summarize the point, the reader can easily review the tips from time to time.

What I was looking for, though, was a conclusion to wrap it all up. The e-book ended rather abruptly with the relationship section.

Many law of attraction books are mushrooming now in the web and print, and these are just one of those many. This short e-book is a good read, though, for those who have not yet read any comprehensive book on the law of attraction and using it to achieve your goals.

The e-book, though, did not elaborate on how to change the core belief. This is a difficult process, since these are core beliefs we are talking about. Review Title: The e-book every network marketer should read
Date Reviewed: August 20, 2007

In this e-book, Michael Dlouhy breaks some myths and offers some unconventional views on network marketing culled from his more than 20 years of experience. Having joined and analyzed many networking companies, he shares his experiences and what others can learn from them.

Dlouhy continuously emphasizes that multi-level marketing is not a numbers game but a relationship game. It also explained how EXACTLY to get into the mind of the prospect – what he/she values and cares about. And most importantly, it teaches purpose and focus to keep you going despite difficulties.

Written in a conversational, willing-to-help style, the e-book is a compelling read. Though there are some points here that others may not agree with (e.g. author’s view on direct marketing), this e-book offers valuable insights and the “illogical” but effective ways to do network marketing.

Also, Dlouhy’s offer to mentor for free is also a tempting offer. As someone who is seriously considering network marketing, I might just e-mail him my big “why,” as his request from readers.

An inspiring read. This e-book can be a companion to a comprehensive success book or can simply serve as a reminder, a checklist for your journey to success. While the e-book is quite short, with only one-paragraph discussions per tip, it can put you in a high state of energy to achieve what you want.

This e-book advises you to set goals, apply your knowledge and strategize well.
It shows that success is not an individual effort – you have to ask for help from others and seek advice, especially from successful people. Continuous success also means continuous learning. Success also means having standards - to be thankful for what you have, but not contented. To not settle.

At the same time, it also shows that success is not only about making more money but having quality life. The e-book teaches balance in life and advises loving and appreciating life.

I am just wondering, though, why the magic number here is 39. The author does not give any special reason for this.

Review Title: Short and sweet, but…
Date Reviewed: August 20, 2007
This report is short and to the point. Anna-Marie Stewart, the author, identifies the three “dead giveaways” that an e-mail is fraudulent and shows the steps in finding out whether the e-mail came from a genuine source or not. With scanned examples of fraudulent e-mails, the author gives the reader a good illustration on how dubious e-mails read.

The report focuses more on e-mails with the “or-else” threat (e.g. Do this or else your account will be closed). This is particularly important as knowing that these e-mails are fraud would save the recipient time and money.

Though the report already offered useful advice as is, I would like to know how to check the source if I am not using Outlook. In this report, Stewart only chose Outlook as an illustration. Also, the report emphasized spotting fraudulent e-mails from Paypal, E-bay and online banks only.

All in all, the report was brief, easy to read but lacking in information.

Review Title: Really motivational but…
Date Reviewed: August 21, 2007
The quotes compiled in this e-book are indeed inspiring, motivational and thought-provoking. The quotes came from the wisdom of ancient times to contemporary leaders and thinkers. Most quotes are about the road to success and the obstacles you may face along the way. And some assure that it’s ok to fail – it ultimately leads you to success. There are some quotes that – though not directly related to success – really make you think. My favorite in this category is the one by Jameson Frank: “Our greatest battles are that with our own minds.”

Though the e-book is already inspiring as it is, I would have liked the quotes – considering that they are 70 – to be divided into sections. One section, for example, may be about persistence, another about failure, and so on. Also, I do not get why the author/compiler chose to compile 70 quotes in particular. Does he have any special reason for this?

The author/compiler should have also double-checked the spellings of the people quoted. For example, Napoleon Hill was spelled as Napolean Hill! This e-book should have been checked more thoroughly.

Review Title: I was not too happy reading this
Date Reviewed: August 21, 2007

I would say that this e-book appears to focus more on self-improvement, not on happiness. There are sections here on tapping your creativity, becoming an ideal leader and more relating to self-improvement. No problem with that – except that the title of the book should be changed accordingly.

I do not see any flow or continuity in this e-book unlike some where one chapter easily flows to the next. This one is more like articles compiled into an e-book. In fact, in one section here the author mentions “I hope this article has inspired you.” Maybe these are indeed compiled articles.

Also, the layout is too text-heavy. There should be some more white space separating each line. When stating information in seeming bullet points, it may be helpful to set the introductory phrase in bold font. For example, there is a section here where the author enumerates the points to consider in creative problem solving.

On a positive note, though, the advice here is indeed useful though more related with self-improvement. I also found the practical exercises here are also helpful. I would have preferred the e-book to include case studies or real-life examples too, though.

Review Title: A useful guide to goal-setting
Date Reviewed: August 21, 2007

A short report but compact with useful, “actionable” information. It teaches you the importance of setting goals, particularly what exactly is in it for you. It shows the right way to set goals – that is, they should be SMART ones. The author, Paul Smithson, clearly explains what a SMART goal is and gives examples – even including Benjamin Franklin’s goals! Smithson even goes so far as advising how to convert New Year’s resolutions in to SMART goals.

At the same time, Smithson urges you to check your goals against your values. The critical question is – do you really need it? For a richer, happier life, the author also suggests setting goals in the different areas of your life – home, work, community, etc. the section about big, hairy, audacious goals (BHAG) is attention-grabbing and poses a good challenge.

The conclusion at the end of the report effectively summarizes the essence of goal-setting. You might also find the worksheets for goal-setting helpful. The motivational quotes at the end are also a nice touch.

Review Title: A well-thought approach on the law of attraction
Date Reviewed: August 23, 2007

A good, thought-provoking read, especially if you have goals – especially big ones – you want to achieve. Though it pretty much covers what other basic law of attraction books do, it takes a combination of a scientific and philosophical approach. I especially like the discussion on the principle of connections. This is the only law of attraction e-book so far that comprehensively explained this and how you should apply it. As the author, Song Chengxiang, discusses each principle of rapid manifestation, he also gives exercises from the likes of Deepak Chopra and other well-known thinkers to practically apply these principles.

The book gives some surprising, though useful advice. I was particularly amused with the philosophical, humorous, but at the same time practical advice of “Remind yourself [about] the truth that at the quantum level, you are already rich.” The bonus lessons after the principles were discussed are also a good companion to the principles discussed.

This book would be better though, with a little editing as there are some errors in grammar that interrupt the flow of reading.

Review Title: Must-read for anyone with a kitchen – meaning everyone!
Date Reviewed: August 23, 2007

This book is packed with information everyone needs to know about the bacteria that lurk in the kitchen, and how they can infect your food and cause illness if you are not careful. This is especially recommended for households with children, particularly babies. Knowing just how much bacteria can populate a kitchen really surprised me. Through this book I learned the right temperature for cooking and heating so as to kill bacteria and what to do control and kill them.

Written in a conversational, witty style with humor injected at the right places, this book kept me reading without stopping.

Though I am not too keen on applying everything here (in our house we have been doing many things contrary to this book and we have not yet been poisoned or infected), it would be best to apply everything here for households with babies and very young children whose immune system may still be a bit weak.

Review Title: Insightful and thought-provoking
Date Reviewed: August 25, 2007

Once I started reading, I couldn’t stop. After Bill Bishop shared his marketing secrets, I was totally absorbed in this e-book. It appears like he really knows how to market, even in interviews, as this e-book is mainly an interview with him.

In this e-book, Bill Bishop explains the difference between selling and marketing and the advantage of the latter, considering the change in human thinking. He shares successful marketing ideas that appear out of the box but sound commonsense – the “why-didn’t-I-think-of-that type of idea. He discusses consumer psychology like the herd mentality and shows how it comes into play in marketing. He also points out how a simple change in presentation can greatly affect sales. In the first personal story he shared in this e-book, he relates how he was able to sell more lobsters during his days as a waiter just by “re-packaging” his offer to customers.

My only nitpick would be the title, as it is a bit misleading. Upon reading the title, I expected the e-book to contain marketing success stories of the world’s top businesses.

Overall, every marketer would find this e-book an informative and insightful read.

Review Title: Good reminder for confidence
Date Reviewed: August 25, 2007

Though most of the tips in this e-book might be something you have already heard about, they can serve as a good reminder to keep that confidence! – especially when things are not going so well.

With each tip being concise and complete in itself, you can pick one at random everyday and apply that to your life. This way, you surround yourself with positive things everyday and the negative falls away, helping build confidence. The tips here are helpful in the sense that they apply to different aspects – physical, emotional, mental, and social.

Also, the way the author, Anna Marie-Stewart, shared her life story on confidence in the introduction gives this e-book a personal touch. Her story also gives a humane side to this e-book as she relates how she gained confidence, lost it, and gained it back.

All in all, the e-book gives useful as well as uplifting advice.

Review Title: The right foundations
Date Reviewed: August 25, 2007

In this classic converted to e-book form, James Allen shows just how powerful your thoughts can be to change your life and circumstances. His advice is probably the earlier version of the saying, “You become what you think about most.” Allen shows how, through thought, people can “ascend to divine perfection” or “descend below the level of the beast.”

In showing the effect of thoughts on circumstances, Allen uses an analogy of planting in the garden. Your thought is the seed. So what you sow, you reap. Allen shows how thought leads to habit, and habit to circumstance.

Allen also inspires awe of the human mind and soul by saying “Man can find every truth connected with his being, if he will dig deep into the mine of his soul.” Allen also shows how you can achieve your dreams by combining thought with purpose.

It is perfectly understandable that James Allen’s work influenced contemporary writers, thinkers and motivational speakers like Denis Waitley and Jim Rohn. Allen’s ideas are one of the foundations of the ongoing “mind revolution” today.

When I started reading this e-book, I expected to learn something new in using MS Word to cut down my time in using it. Unfortunately, as I read through this e-book, I began to realize the tips here may be more useful to beginner users, or specifically to those who only know how to use the text functions in MS Word. I am not an expert in using MS Word and I am not a graphic designer either, but I learned to use it for school projects and office work.

On the bright side, though, beginner users would find this e-book helpful. The author takes you through each step with illustrations, even circling in red the buttons you should press. The advice here on how to conserve ink will also be valuable to those who do not know it yet.

The word “secrets” in the title is misleading and should be re-phrased so the reader would not expect too much.

All in all, this e-book would be a useful read to MS Word beginners.

Review Title: Good read for Internet marketing newbies
Date Reviewed: August 27, 2007

This e-book takes you through the personal success stories of people who made it in the Internet. They tell about how they started their business, the challenges they faced (some did not make money for a long time when they started), their victories, and their learnings.

Some, like Edmund Loh and Keith Choy, even provide comprehensive, step-by-step advice in marketing.

Each marketer has a gem of information to share. Joe Tiew tells you to work smart – not work hard and how to do this. Dechen Lau talks about the power of promoting offline and advertising online. Keith Choy, in the words of Tony Robbins, advises you to take massive action. Bob Bastion emphasizes that knowledge is not power – rather, applied knowledge is.

All talked about their mistakes in Internet marketing and how they learned from them. Some even directly advised readers what NOT to do.

All in all, newbies – and even old-timers – in Internet marketing would find this book helpful.

This e-book gives the alternative to exercising one or two hours in the gym or sweating it out in a regular tennis game. It cuts down exercise to 20-30 minutes a day with the programs given here. It also advises how to increase intensity in your workout instead of increasing frequency as you might be too busy to do this.

This also shows how to integrate exercise in the workplace. However, I had expected some chair exercises to be included here as well.

For people on the go, the e-book lists small, convenient and lightweight exercise equipment you can carry wherever you go.

For those saving money, there are also suggested exercises here which do not need any equipment at all. Illustrations would greatly help to make the instructions clearer, though.

A nice bonus to this book is the examples of “fitness-friendly” hotels and airports listed towards the end.

Overall, this e-book is an informative read.

Review Title: This is marketing, not sales prospecting
Date Reviewed: August 27, 2007

Yes, this is no longer your usual sales call but this is already marketing. Though the author, Eric Alan, calls it modern sales prospecting, this is already marketing. I cannot fault the author much for making the title like it is right now as it may catch more attention from those used to traditional sales.

The course, though not very comprehensive, already gives useful information. It begins with a compelling case study of a small business owner averse to making sales calls. The author then presents a solution to the said owner’s problem through his method of “sales prospecting.”

In this short course, Alan shows how to build a list of potential customers, how to market using a website and how to use leverage to make more profit. He also shows how to build your credibility among your customers and keep them coming back.

All in all, anyone starting a business may find this short course helpful.

Review Title: Practical and workable tips
Date Reviewed: August 27, 2007

This book, though short, is filled with useful information. It shows how to increase your sales when selling resell products.

The author, Simon Hodgkinson, shows how important it is to build a relationship with potential customers. Calling this “relationship marketing,” Hodgkinson says that 80% of his sales are a result of his good relationships with his members and subscribers. He also shows how you can build a list of members and subscribers by providing site visitors an easy, convenient way of subscribing. On the relationship aspect, though, Hodgkinson does not go into detail on how exactly to build these good relationships.

The author also introduces thought-provoking suggestions of competing with yourself and how to do it to increase your profits. He also shows the benefits of gestalt marketing (putting products together in a package so that its whole will be greater than the sum of the individual products) and how to do it effectively.

In this short book, Hodgkinson gives seemingly simple though effective tips – that worked for him.

Review Title: Extensive information and nice presentation
Date Reviewed: August 27, 2007

This e-book offers extensive information on organic farming and is particularly useful for beginners. It shows you how to get started on organic farming – testing your soil and making it suitable for organic farming, planning what you will plant, the tools or equipment you will use for each step in farming, and more.

The author, Pauline Hodgkinson, also gives suggestions for your crop rotation for four years. It also discusses each particular vegetable’s number of days to germinate and number of days to mature for harvesting.

She even gives step-by-step growing instructions for specific vegetables and herbs (e.g. broccoli, eggplant and fennel) – the type of soil needed, which months to grow (also this might be applicable only to UK and nearby countries), how to plant it and how to care for it and when you can harvest it. There are even recipes here for some of the vegetables.

The look and layout is very much like a website and is visually appealing and easy to navigate. My only problem is that there is no table of contents and no links leading to each page. Since the e-book is in website format, the table of contents should be placed in menu format in each page. This will be helpful to the reader especially in the section on growing a particular vegetable – the reader can easily go to the vegetables they would like to know about more.

Review Title: A different approach
Date Reviewed: August 27, 2007

This e-book takes a unique approach to getting the job or getting the raise – focus on the company you are applying for and its problems, and not on yourself. Show that you’re not just going to be an employee – you will be a “problem-solver,” an asset to their company. Which makes sense, as applying for a job or asking for a raise is marketing yourself. And in marketing, you do not only focus on your product’s strengths but how it can solve the potential customer’s problem.

This e-book explains how to do just that. You do research. You submit a proposal, NOT a resumé. The e-book does not focus much, though, on how to write the proposal. This would have been a great help to readers.

The e-book also talks about starting a home business, although not so much. Ideally, more practical advice should have been included here.

A nice bonus read with this e-book is how to build your credentials to your potential employer through Google.

Dotson shows how to ask stimulating questions or questions that fire the customer’s imagination. He also teaches writing headlines to make your potential customer want to know more about the product. He shows techniques on how to make them feel you are letting them in on a secret or giving them privileged information. And, he also advises how you can give them a sense of urgency so that they purchase your product right now – or soon.

He also shows how you can build your product’s credibility and assure customers that it is safe. He also advises how injecting a little humor can put the customer in a buying mood, and more tips.

However, this e-book only outlines the eye-catching headlines. It is still up to you to choose which technique to apply, which will depend on your purpose for the product and your marketing strategy.

This is a quick summary of marketing strategies, most of which are already discussed in other e-books. Even so, this e-book can serve as a companion to more intensive, detailed marketing books or simply a quick reminder on what to do and what not to do in Internet marketing.

The author, Larry Dotson, gives 100 strategies – from enticing the customer to buy to building your credibility. As I noticed themes here, I suggest the tips to be grouped to make them more organized. For example, one section could be about appealing to your customer’s senses and emotions, while another could be about the right design and layout of your website.

Dotson offers tips on what seems to be all aspects of marketing. He shows how to put customers in the right mood to buy, how you can leverage by building partnerships with other businesses and how a partnership with a reputable business can build credibility with your customers, and others more.

This e-book may just prompt the shy, nice guys to finally take action. Shawn Nelson writes in a conversational tone, giving advice based on firsthand experience. He assures the reader that it’s not all hard and complicated but actually easy to approach women and start a friendship which may lead to a relationship. He also gives specific advice on how to approach women, how to start a conversation, how to keep it flowing and more. It also gives the assurance that though women may initially fall for the “bad guy,” they eventually look for the good guy.

The companion books and reports here are also interesting.

The book on untrained men here, though interesting, can be questioned in some points. Yes, it is based on an old manuscript, but some parts may make a woman raise her eyebrow. For example, why the “untrained” man? It implies that men should be trained, like pets. How about something like “unlearned?” And, is it really the women’s responsibility to “train” men? In this e-book, it implies that yes, it is.

The compilation of reports here on dating here by different authors may also be useful reads for both men and women, from the basic flirting tips for both sexes to how to kiss on a first date and overcoming the fear of approaching women, and more.

I appreciate that the recipes were listed in the first few pages for quick browsing, but the author should have included the page numbers to help the reader find a specific recipe. It would also be good to group the recipes under main course, snack and desserts. The main course section can also be divided by main ingredient – one subsection can be on fish, the other on beef, and so on.

A few recipes have incomplete instructions, like the baked bean recipes. It simply says how and where to bake them but not what to do before baking them.

Pictures of the cooked dishes would also help even for some of the recipes, especially to show that these dishes are indeed yummy, as the author claims.

This can serve as a comprehensive guide if you want to write and sell your first e-book, and even if you want to use it to promote your online business.

The author Craig McPherson gives this e-book a compelling start by explaining why you should write an e-book if you have some valuable information to share with other people. He then proceeds to explain step by step how exactly to write an e-book.

In the chapter “Overcoming Writer’s Block,” McPherson explores the logical reasons why you may experience it and what you should do to get out of it. Anyone who has ever experienced writer’s block will find his tips helpful.

He also gives advice on finding the best compiler for your e-book before releasing it to the market. He also explains pricing strategies to ensure that you are charging the right price without undervaluing your time and effort.

Even while he gave the advice of checking spellings and grammar after writing an e-book, unfortunately, a few grammar lapses somehow slipped through in this finished manuscript.

Date Reviewed: September 10, 2007

Though most of the information here may be known by many people already, this e-book can serve as a thorough checklist and reminder if you want to set up a family budget and stick to it.

The author first attempts to “demystify budgeting” as it is not as daunting as it seems. He/she aims to put the reader at the right mindset for budgeting. The advantages of setting up a family budget as well as the causes of budgeting failures are discussed before detailed advice on budgeting is given.

The author broke up how to balance your income with your expenses into five simple, general steps before delving into specifics on each step.

Towards the end, the author also gives budgeting advice from online users. This is helpful, though some parts are already redundant as some of the tips have already been mentioned in previous sections.

At the beginning of the e-book, the layout and photos are easy on the eyes. Thought-provoking quotes placed before the introduction kept me interested to read on. However, from the middle towards the end, the e-book becomes text-heavy without sufficient breaks. The final thoughts on setting up a family budget and the quotes at the end, though, are good closing material.

This is a very good report for beginning Internet marketers – and the author John Delavera used a very interesting analogy too! The report is both informative and entertaining. Aspiring Internet marketers may be enlightened with Delavera’s point that Internet marketing is not really all that complicated – it follows a simple model. And, consistent to his claim, Delavera writes in simple but compelling words. He also asks relevant questions and gives advice on the things one should consider in each step of the process.

While other e-books and reports also satisfactorily give advice to starting Internet marketers, I believe this report is the simplest and most concise. It is also very easy to read and absorb. This is like Internet Marketing 101.

My only nitpick is that Delavera was not able to sustain his cooking analogy throughout the book. He was only able to use it in the beginning and discarded it later on.

All in all, though, this is a very good read.

This e-book has smoothie recipes of what appears to be all fruits in the color wheel – it gives athletes a lot of options, never to be tired with the same old recipes. The ingredients, too, are mostly healthy and thus also aims to keep athletes healthy.

This e-book also appears authoritative as it has an exercise expert as an author and a gourmet chef as a contributing writer.

The calorie, carbohydrate, fat and protein information of each smoothie is a good reference for those watching their weight, or for athletes who are monitoring all their calorie, carbohydrate, fat and protein intake for better performance.

What would help, though, is if the benefit of each recipe is mentioned. For example, one smoothie could be ideal for strenuous workout, another for replenishing body fluids and so on. It would also help if the smoothies were grouped according to purpose or benefits instead of just listing them alphabetically.

All in all, this is a good, yummy and healthy read for athletes.

The companion e-books here of recipes and weight loss tips are also good companion books, but not necessarily for athletes only.

The authors Sharlene Raven and JP Schoeffel discuss the power of viral marketing, showing that it is all the good in traditional marketing multiplied in effectiveness as it spreads through people like a virus. They show how to still use these traditional marketing tools but take an extra step to make your message viral.

The case study here of Hotmail – its story, what made it work, how it applied the elements of viral marketing – is a good illustration of just how successful viral marketing can get.

The authors also teach effective viral marketing tools and how to use them like giving away free e-books, sending out jokes, and more. Their advice about using humor is right on target as good jokes usually spread across people easily.

This e-book is a substantial primer on viral marketing.

Review Title: Classic and sinful chocolate recipes
Date Reviewed: September 12, 2007

This e-book got all “chocolatey” aspects covered – from the classic, feel-good triple chocolate fudge to sinful, decadent concoctions like Death by Chocolate. The e-book also has unusual recipes like chocolate-covered potato chips and rich chocolate pumpkin truffles. There is something for everyone – there are specific recipes for lovers of milky-sweet white chocolate, classic milk chocolate or rich dark chocolate. Chocolate comes in the form of brownies, pies, puddings, truffles, cakes, rich sauces, and more. For those trying to be health-conscious, there are fat-free and sugar-free recipes.

To make the e-book more “appetizing,” though, it would help to put photos of the finished chocolate concoctions, especially the most tempting ones. The cartoon picture in the first page does not do the recipes in here justice. This e-book may be designed to be a website but the PDF format should still be visually appealing.

All in all, though, the concoctions here are a chocoholic’s dream – and there is definitely something for everyone.

Review Title: Which makes how much money?
Date Reviewed: September 12, 2007

In this e-book, Larry Dotson shares 101 in-demand niche markets you can target for your online business. He gives a headline for each followed by a brief description. Most of the niche markets he suggests concern money, like investments, making more money, saving money, among others. Others are on self-improvement like getting in shape, getting a good habit, and on improving communication and relationships.

Undoubtedly, these are all good niche markets to target as they all focus on improvement, as people are usually open to this. What would make this e-book more effective, though, is if he ranked the niche markets by order of profitability to give the reader a better idea which niche markets are most promising. Or at the very least, he could have divided the markets here into segments – one could be about relationships, another about moneymaking and so on. He can then rank the segments by order of profitability.

This e-book as it is, though, is just the beginning for anyone who wants to tap a niche market – it just stimulates your mind and allows you to see the options you have for a niche marketing business.

Review Title: Shocking, but not necessarily convincing
Date Reviewed: September 14, 2007

No doubt these are all attention-grabbing headlines that appeal directly to the emotions, with some having a high shock factor, like “Naked, Stripped Of All That I Had!” Depending on the audience, though, some may be doubtful of some of the headlines here which may appear to be over-promising like “How To Make People Line Up And Beg You To Take Their Money.”

To his credit, though, the author Dan Lok does know how to stir emotions or at least interest. He uses compelling words and phrases like “Only way to,” “what if,” and so on.

The author claims that these headlines are from his “million-dollar file cabinet.” To build credibility on his claim, he should have told exactly how these headlines made him money. Case studies of one headline for each category would help.

I appreciate that the headlines were organized by category – one is on martial arts, bodybuilding and health, another is on business and investing, and so on. This would save on the time of those who only want to see headlines relevant to their online business.

Review Title: Practical, step-by-step approach
Date Reviewed: September 14, 2007

This short but informative e-book takes you through the basics of setting up a website, step by step, from choosing a domain name and web hosting company to building your website.

The author, Evelyn Lim, gives you important points to consider in choosing your domain name, from relevance to easy recall and access for the visitor. He considers budget as well – he gives out the website he himself uses for his domain names.

Lim also gives seven criteria in choosing your web hosting company that can make or break your website. He gives considerations such as the usual bandwidth, customer service support, among other things. Again, he suggests some web hosting companies.

The section about designing the actual website, though, is not as detailed as the first two steps. In this section he mostly promotes services that can help you build your website.

The bonus section that gives a flow chart for websites as marketing tools serves as a reminder for those with online businesses.

Review Title: A feast for ice cream lovers
Date Reviewed: September 14, 2007

This e-book has a wide range of recipes to satisfy the cravings of any kind of ice cream lover. There are recipes for classic flavors like vanilla, chocolate and strawberry, as well as unusual recipes for the adventurous like crying cayenne, jalapeño mint, saffron and dill pickle. For the diabetic, it has an aptly titled recipe “diabetic ice cream” and sugar-free variations of classic flavors. For the vegan-vegetarian, there are non-dairy variations of different flavors as well. For the weight-conscious and the calorie-conscious in general, there are sorbet and ice recipes. The sorbets themselves offer a range of classic fruit flavors like peach and raspberry while offering unique ones like champagne sorbet and tomato and basil sorbet. For the health-conscious but not so calorie-conscious, there are a few yogurt recipes as well.

The recipes are basically easy to follow, except that the ingredients should be more specific. Sometimes, the recipes just call for cream without specifying what kind of cream is needed. Also, photos of the actual ice cream made following these recipes would make the book more visually appealing.

By: Michael Lee

Review Title: Quite a “persuasive” sampler
Date Reviewed: November 29, 2007

Case studies, like the one used in this sample chapter, are a very effective way to start off motivational or self-help books. More so if the case studies are inspiring success stories, again, like the one in this sample chapter.

The sample chapter here is short but sweet – just enough information to give you an overview of the powers of persuasion and also just enough to pique your curiosity about the next chapters. The case study used here is particularly impactful as some of the principles of persuasion are already embedded here.

What would have made the sales pitch to read the entire book more persuasive, though, is if the author gave an overview of what you can expect in the next chapters. If an outline or table of contents is already self-explanatory, that would also suffice.

Also, the time guarantee of the book in turning you into a “red-hot persuasion wizard” in 20 days or less is a very compelling offer. The author should have made a reference to this in the report to make the entire book more attractive.

Product Reviewed: Panic No Harm
By: Kam Meng Mok

Review Title: Informative and entertaining
Date Reviewed: September 17, 2007

In a light and conversational tone accompanied with comic book illustrations, this e-book explains the basics of a panic attack. The illustrations and the explanations take you step by step on how a panic attack starts and develops. It also clearly differentiates a panic attack with other normal fears and anxieties. The e-book even goes so far as giving examples of normal anxieties with the same physiological symptoms as a panic attack but a different effect and interpretation of the person who experiences it. The author uses this to prove the premise that indeed, panic attacks do not harm.

The title, though, can be misleading. Yes, panic attacks do not harm physically, but they can seriously harm psychologically. A more appropriate title would be “Panic Attacks Do Not Harm Your Body” or something along these lines. Also, to make this book more readable, the author should do more editing to improve the grammar and spelling in some sections.

Review Title: Not exactly forbidden
Date Reviewed: September 17, 2007

The tips here, though valuable, are not exactly forbidden. In fact, they have been advised in various marketing books. The word “forbidden” in the title was just used to get the attention the reader. Though it is misleading, it works, though some readers may resent is and feel a bit tricked.

Though the title says “47 Psychological Tactics,” the e-book actually only gives eight. The rest are included in an e-book for sale. Again, these words are misleading.

To his credit, though, the author Dan Lok has explained the eight psychological tactics here very well. He not only tells why they are effective – he also gives case studies of companies who used them and succeeded.

The use of color and different font sizes here plus the inclusion of boxed information makes the e-book easy on the eyes. For easier reading, though, the fonts should be big enough to set the e-book at page view. This is important as the text is placed in two columns – this is so the reader does not have to scroll back up to read the next column.

Review Title: A guide for organic gardening beginners
Date Reviewed: September 18, 2007

This is a good, comprehensive guide for those who want to have their own organic garden. It explains the advantages of organic gardening over conventional gardening and gives step-by-step instructions on how to make your own organic garden. It gives tips on how to prepare the soil, how to ensure your plants get enough water, which kind of fertilizer to use and where to get it, how to control pests the organic way, and so on. There is even an option here for indoor organic gardening.

The author also focuses particularly on organic herb gardening and on the rationale for such – that conventional gardening alters the taste of the herbs and thus compromises the flavors of your pasta or any dish you season with herbs. There are even recipes here for herb vinegar and herb oil.

What would make this book more helpful, though, is if it gives specific growing and caring instructions for particular plants, as each plant has particular needs.

Review Title: Kids will love this!
Date Reviewed: September 18, 2007

These recipes look fun and easy. The recipe titles themselves would surely catch a kid’s interest – which kid would not be curious about what chocolate spiders, peanut butter caterpillars and dirt cups look and taste like? And as some kids love messy – sometimes gross things – recipes like boogers on a stick, hairball salad with saliva dressing and tortured tomatoes with bird dropping dressing would surely make their day.

As the author claims, cooking these recipes here with your kids can indeed be a good way to spend quality time with them. Some recipes also contain detailed instructions on what you should do and what you should let your kid do. It would be more helpful, though, if all recipes are phrased like this.

The layout has just some problem as the recipe title usually ends up at the bottom of the page while the recipe is at the next page. Also, photos would dress up the PDF e-book nicely and will pique kids’ interest more to try the recipes.

Review Title: Useful advice in selling e-books in Ebay
Date Reviewed: September 22, 2007

This e-book gives simple, practical advice on how to sell your e-book in Ebay. It explains in detail how to set up an account, manage that account and keep sales coming. It also teaches how to manage customer feedback – especially negative feedback. To save on your time and your customers’ time, it also teaches automation for downloading of your e-books and automation for responses to customers’ e-mails if you are away from your computer. It also teaches you how to keep track of your sales.

The author also briefly gives you other selling options like joint ventures, affiliate marketing, and so on.

The use of illustrations here with proper markings helps you understand his the author’s instructions better.

A nitpick about this e-book, though, is that its introduction, or first chapter, is too long and dragging, considering that the e-book is supposed to be about selling, not writing e-books. A major part of the first chapter here is taken from Craig McPherson’s “So You Want to Write an E-book.” The chapter should be trimmed down to focus on the real topic – selling.

Date Reviewed: September 22, 2007

This e-book covers all the basics about caring for your dog, from the right food and proper grooming to treatment and prevention of diseases. There is also other useful information here, particularly on pet identification and pet health insurance.

The problem here, though, is the organization and presentation of information. First, the title in the title page is just set in small font. Also, the table of contents has no page numbers. The number of words indicated per item may be helpful to some readers who want to save on their time, but can also be a bit distracting.

There are also just too many items on the table contents, with no chapters or section divisions. The table of contents looks like a listing of articles and in fact, this e-book may have been just compiled from a series of articles.

Editing and re-writing some sentences here with problems in grammar and construction will also make the e-book more reader-friendly.

An informative read, though this e-book covers only the basics, giving limited information on the subject. Before even going into business, this e-book talks about the basics on blogging – definition, history, reasons for popularity, and the blog’s difference from the website.

The e-book also discusses the advantages of a blog for your business and how to go about it. The author specifically gives advice on building niche blogs, although there is not much information in assessing the best niche and the competition with other blogs on the chosen subject.

The author also gives a list of well-known blogging software and their features for the reader to choose from. The e-book also teaches how to “market” your blog and generate traffic through a little advice on search engine optimization, RSS feeds, and other strategies.

Also important here are the tips on ad placement to ensure that more blog visitors would indeed click on the link to the ad.

Overall, this is a good read, although covering basics only. This e-book also needs a little editing to make it more readable.

This e-book gives different ways of generating passive income and takes you through step-by-step, detailed instructions on how exactly to do it. Though some e-books have already mentioned some of the suggestions the author Michael Domeck gives here, like affiliate marketing, he gives very thorough, detailed advice on how to do it effectively.

Of note in this e-book is the space the author has allotted for ads in your website, as these understandably make good passive income if done the right way. Domeck gives tips on placing ads strategically in your website and of the different services like Google AdSense which you can use.

One nitpick I have for this e-book, though, is the way the first part was written. I know the introduction is also used to build the author’s credibility and personal anecdotes are the way to go, but the way he told his story is just a bit of an overkill – he could have just stated what happened to him without giving a very detailed account with a lot of “imagine if…”

Overall, though, this e-book is a worthwhile read for anyone who wants to make passive income through the net.

There is also advice on choosing your topic, target audience and marketing your mini e-book.

Much of the advice here, though, is already found in other e-books, like giving your mini e-book away for free to gain future customers. The information here, though, is a bit more comprehensive.

There is an attention-grabbing chapter here titled “Creating Your Own E-book in Under 24 Hours.” As you read through, though, you would find that the methods described here would actually take longer than that, especially the advice on gaining expert interviews for your e-book. Most people you want to interview just don’t usually respond in only one day.

With regard to readability, though, the use of appropriate photos per chapter gives the eyes a welcome break from all the text.

Review Title: Be a positive thinker or else…
Date Reviewed: September 24, 2007

I like the wit in this e-book, starting from the introduction – positive thinking is a bunch of crap, and crap makes great fertilizer. True! Though the planting and harvesting analogy has been used many times already, I like the way the author used it in this e-book. In one chapter he asks a very thought-provoking question, “What’s in your garden right now?” that can just help you make an honest assessment of your attitude. The personality test here looks light and fun, though can hit a raw nerve, if any – and it should.

There is also advice here for dealing with traumas and bad things and then moving forward to dreaming and setting goals complete with positive thinking and visualization. The checklist of the positive thinking process at the end is a good summary of the e-book’s contents and is also a good reminder.

My only complaint with this e-book is that the table of contents is crammed with too much items – even when the subheadings only take up less than page. The table of contents can be trimmed down into just the major headings. Otherwise, the e-book is already very good as it is.

These recipes indeed look like the recipes of masterpieces chefs whip up in fine-dining or casual-dining restaurants. The names speak for themselves - Escargots Bourguignonne, Poached Fresh Pears in White Burgundy with Chocolate Sauce, Souffle Glace Aux Framboises, and more. There is also cuisine borrowed from different countries – from France, India, and more.
As the prepared dishes here sound like masterpieces, though, the recipe instructions here are not for the fainthearted or those who want to cook good food quick. The recipes demand time and effort. These are best for those who want to throw an elaborate dinner party or who just want a fine dining experience.
The recipes should be better organized, though, and may be classified by country of origin or at least by salads, entrees, main course, and dessert. This is not only for the reader’s ease in finding a recipe but also to add to the “fine dining” image of this cook book.

Review Title: Comprehensive answers to online marketing FAQs
Date Reviewed: September 25, 2007

This is a good resource for any beginning online marketer. The well-meaning author has compiled and answered the top frequently asked questions of neophytes in the business. Questions such as the time and money needed for your business, how to get hits to your website, how to build your list of potential customers, and more are answered.

The questions could have been arranged better, though. Questions 12-15 here that deal with time, money, assurances that online marketing is not a scam, and more should be put upfront while the questions on getting hits and on affiliate programs can come later.

It is good that the author outlines the goals for each section. However, this section does not really synthesize the questions for the section and mostly just outlines that it will answer this particular question. Also, the writing is a bit formal and reminiscent of the research objectives section in a thesis or term paper. The title is a bit too lengthy as well.

All, in all, this e-book provides valuable information but could have been written and organized better.

For any entrepreneur who has bright ideas in business and advertising but has limited funds, finding business partners is the way to go. Larry Dotson, in his e-book of 100 tips plus five extra for joint ventures, shows how to set up these partnerships for a win-win situation for both parties. There are particularly tips on how to partner with another business and sell each others’ products, how to share costs for an ad, how to get good testimonials for your product, and more.

My only nitpick is that the “million dollar” in the title can be a bit misleading and can get your hopes up.

Though these are good tips to think about, the interested Internet entrepreneur should read up further on the topic and see if a particular tip is appropriate to his/her situation before doing it.

Review Title: Timeless wisdom indeed
Date Reviewed: September 28, 2007

Napoleon Hill already said it all. What many know today through The Secret and related books or videos, he already said almost a century ago. Hill laid out the law of success through other laws, like the law of habit and the now well-known law of attraction. He discussed the power of auto-suggestion, or what some would now call self-hypnosis. He even gave a formula for self-confidence and later explained how debt could get in the way of success.

This e-book gives the excerpts of Hill’s book The Law of Success in 16 Lessons, giving only excerpts of the first four lessons. The compiler made a good choice marketing this as Hill’s words are timeless and classic. After the fourth lesson, he also gave a sneak preview on what is in the next lessons – a good marketing strategy to get you to buy the entire book.

The excerpts of the four lessons here, by themselves, however, already give very good, concrete advice on success.

Review Title: Could have been better
Date Reviewed: September 28, 2007

At first I thought this was an e-book, given the overall look and layout, with no columns and sidebars. It was only when I read the first article and saw that there were succeeding articles that I realized it was a magazine. There is a cover story as well as regular articles and columns, as typical magazines have.

To make the table of contents fit for a magazine, though, the pages there could be made clickable to direct the reader straight to the article. After all, the magazine is usually read by article, and not cover to cover.

The cover story “Whose Goal Is It Anyway?” is a good read and makes you assess your goals for your online marketing and home business, particularly if you’re going the way you really want. However, I do not see anything controversial with the article that the writer had to use a pen name.

Anyone into online business might find this magazine a good source for trends, though.

Review Title: Not really wealth revealed, but something to think about
Date Reviewed: September 28, 2007

Most of the 100 strategies discussed in this e-book can be found in other e-books or reports already, and some are even common knowledge to the Internet marketer. Nevertheless, some of the tips here can be something a beginning Internet marketer can think about. There are tips on a variety of topics – niche marketing, affiliate marketing, gaining traffic to your website, specific selling strategies, copywriting, and more.

However, the tips appeared to be listed in random, with no categorization. To make the tips more understandable and for the e-book’s coherent structure, putting sections to categorize topics will help. Though the tips are already briefly discussed in only one paragraph, a short title in bold would also make the e-book more reader-friendly.

In fairness to the author, though, some ideas are creative, like starting a treasure hunt in the website for visitors to participate in. Overall, this is an average read.

Review Title: One source for most safety needs
Date Reviewed: October 08, 2007

This e-book appears to have covered all types of dangers – from the typical dangers in the household like slips and falls to the more serious dangers of terrorist attacks. This discusses not only dangers that can harm you physically but also dangers that can harm your finances and reputation such as identity theft. It even has safety tips against the most common serious diseases.

I daresay this e-book is already a complete guide to safety when it comes to the basics. Though some of the tips are common knowledge already, many are tips you might have not thought of doing. Some safety tips here are applicable only for US residents, though..

The relevant statistics in boxes in each section are also good trivia that can also serve as a good alert to the potential danger. A supplemental report here along with this e-book can also help.

My only nitpick is that though the title indicates that the e-book is for the family, some tips are given in the individual context, particularly the tips on protection against terrorism. These tips are more applicable to the individual than the family. There was no advice given on how to protect the other family members, unlike the earlier sections here on household accidents.

Review Title: Practical organizing advice
Date Reviewed: October 08, 2007

This e-book gives practical, though not very detailed advice when it comes to organizing information. This appears to be a teaser for the author’s Index Mind Map product. The author actually made a statement that it would be better if you just bought his product. In fairness, though, the information in this e-book alone is already quite helpful not only in organizing information but in also reminding just how important organizing information is and the time it will save you.

It briefly discusses the taxonomy, or the classification and subclassification of your information and how to do it effectively. It gives advice on how to anticipate just how much information you will need and get on the subject and design your taxonomy accordingly.

It also gives advice that can help you from getting information overload – it teaches how you can evaluate each piece of information you come across the net and see if it is relevant enough for you to store.

Review Title: Adwords made easy indeed
Date Reviewed: October 08, 2007

This e-book presents helpful information in a clear and professional way. It first gives an overview on pay-per-click advertising and its advantages to your business before showing how to go about it. It then gives a step-by-step guide complete with detailed illustrations on how to set up a Google Adword account, how to select the most appropriate and profitable keywords for your business, and how to write the effective ads that will not only attract clicks but will also make you sell.

It does not stop there, though – it also teaches you how to measure the effectiveness of your ad, particularly how well your ad is converting to sales.

This e-book is very reader-friendly. Aside from using clear, simple language, its layout is very easy on the eyes, making use of different font sizes and color where appropriate. It also makes use of illustrations, especially in instructions to help you better understand how to do it.

Review Title: Good read for the Internet marketer
Date Reviewed: October 10, 2007

This issue of Nettle magazine contains articles relevant to the Internet marketer, with a witty and thought-provoking cover story on blogging and the product Blog Rush, used for ad exchanges between blogs. In the cover story, Dylan Campbell gives concrete, profitable reasons why you should blog if you are an Internet marketer. Campbell also gives several options for the type of blog you can create, depending on your time and preferences. For the magazine’s review on Blog Rush, though, I wish it had been a bit more detailed, giving reasons why Blog Rush is indeed a good choice.

The article on staggered consumption by Sean D’Souza is also quite an interesting read. His analogy between a blackberry tree and staggered consumption is not only simple but also gets the wheels of your mind turning. D’Souza uses this analogy effectively throughout the article, creating a compelling read.

The movie reviews and other light articles here, meanwhile, offer a good break from the more serious articles.

Review Title: Not really explosive
Date Reviewed: October 10, 2007

This e-book, though a good read, does not really live up to its title. Maybe for the beginning Internet marketer who has very little knowledge about the business, this is explosive, but not for the average Internet marketer or even for the beginner who has already started reading up on the business.

Most of the tips here have already been written in other e-books and even in Larry Dotson’s other e-books. They are the usual tips on selling like back-end selling strategies, upselling and more. There are also tips on building customer relationships, writing ad copy and more. There are also tips on how to leverage on customers, like giving them resell rights and giving them the option to refer your website to others.

To his credit, though, Dotson gave some unique and thought-provoking tips on building customer relationships, particularly on making relationships more human and personal. He also gave some useful advice on managing dissatisfied customers.

Review Title: Good gifts for brides indeed
Date Reviewed: October 10, 2007

Gifts here are mostly lace and frills or what you would associate with the blushing bride. The names speak for themselves, like Mini Victorian Pillow Sachet and Dainty Corn Purse. The gifts here are mostly sachets, along with other items like gloves, purses, jewelry sets, bags and more. These are a labor of love, though, as you need to make them yourself. This book only gives the picture of the finished product and some detailed instructions.

Though there are already pictures of the finished product, pictures of the step-by-step procedure in making these gifts would make the task of creating easier.

The author also gives you the option of not only using the products here to give to your girl friends on their wedding day but to make a profit from them as well.

I wish the table of contents was clickable, though, so you can immediately get to view a particular wedding favor or gift you are interested in.

All in all, though, the gifts here look nice to give to a blushing bride.

Date Reviewed: October 10, 2007

Just like other books by Larry Dotson, this contains short one-paragraph tips on a particular topic. This one, though, seems to live up to its title unlike some of his e-books with over-promising titles.

This e-book gives tips on how to get traffic – and subsequently, sales – to your website. There are also tips on giving the right incentives for the website visitor or customer. There are also strategies on how to get sales not directly from your customers but by getting into partnerships with other online businesses.

These tips, though not really intended to be comprehensive, do stimulate the brain and give you something to consider. Some tips here might be your lead for your business. With more research, you can apply the advice here which you think will benefit your business.

If you have read other books by Dotson, though, there is nothing much new here, as most tips here are just a tweaking of related tips in his other e-books.

This e-book is a really good guide for beginners in AdSense, particularly in setting up AdSense websites. First, it teaches you in detail how to select the key words that are not only right for your business but will also generate you profit, with minimal competition. The author stresses the keyword’s importance and how a simple difference in phrasing can make a big difference in your earnings. The e-book also provides reliable tools for keyword research.

The e-book does not only focus on AdSense, but on the quality of your website as well so that your website would get more visitors. It teaches you how to build effective content for your website, the proper use of meta-tags, and so on. And of course, it tells you about the things you should watch out for and avoid doing as they might just get you banned from the search engines and hurt your business.

This e-book talks about anything and everything about what to do with your money – from the basic budgeting and saving to investing in stocks, real estate planning, and other financially related matters. There is even information here about identity theft and how to avoid it or deal with it when it strikes you. The bottom line of this e-book is planning ahead so you can enjoy your retirement years.

Since many people get into debt, especially credit card debt, the section about credit cards and the myths and realities about credit cards can really be helpful. I also appreciate the lengthy and useful information on investing. Not only does the author give advice on how exactly to do it, but he also helps you assess your readiness.

Since this e-book is quite long, I appreciate that there is a clickable table of contents beside this e-book that will allow you to select a chapter or topic easier.

All in all, this is a very comprehensive and informative e-book. The author, Geoff Hamilton-Hardy, must have really put a lot of thought into writing this.

This e-book is concise but is packed with information and easy to read. In here, Internet marketer Vondre’ T. Whaley relates in detail how she successfully built and launched her subscription website businesses. She makes a convincing argument on why you should consider setting up your own subscription site as your business. She later gives examples of successful subscription websites. She also shares what she did wrong in her first subscription websites and why you should avoid these mistakes.

She guides you step-by-step on starting your own subscription website business, from conceptualization to launching and using strategies to get members to sign up – and stay. For some steps, she gives web links to help you out.

She writes in a very personal way that makes the e-book both credible and compelling. The e-book is personal and at the same time professional. The information is very much succinct and organized – the e-book appears to be thought out well before it was written, unlike some e-books in the market.

Review Title: Different jams and preserves for different palates
Date Reviewed: October 12, 2007

Well, this is not really all about jam, as the title says, but it does concern a relative of the jam – the fruit preserve. This e-book contains classic recipes like strawberry jam and recipes for the more adventurous taste buds like green tomato jam, hot pepper and tomato jam, rose petal jam, kiwi daiquiri jam (hopefully, this won’t get you drunk), and roasted garlic jam (Is there such a thing? This is what I thought when I first saw it, but it looks interesting).

I appreciate that there is an introduction upfront explaining the differences in preparing jam, jelly, marmalade and preserve. This could have been a bit more thorough, though. For example, the word “pectin,” essential as it is in preparing the said fruit concoctions, was not defined or explained.

Also, there is no particular table of contents here – just a numbered alphabetical list of the jam and preserve recipes. The e-book has no page numbers, plus the recipes were not ordered in the same order they appeared in the numbered list. As a result, it is difficult to find a particular recipe – you might need to skim through the whole e-book just to find what you’re looking for.

Date Reviewed: October 12, 2007

In this e-book, the author discusses the concept of time leverage and how to apply it to your online business. He differentiates working long and hard with working smart through clear examples. Here, he talks about how to do just that.

The author makes fine points about auto-responders and how they can help you to gain time leverage in your online business. He outlines the tasks auto-responders can perform and what is in it for you.

He also introduces a new approach to two-step advertising which can save on time and money and teaches you rules for implementing it.

He then gives a detailed, step-by-step approach on how to do follow-up marketing through e-mail. This part is particularly helpful and is well-presented, with illustrations to guide you in some steps.

The e-book’s title is very catchy and draws you in, though it only partially relates to the book, it is quite a tolerable tactic that is effective anyway.

There is a section here titled “How to Write Articles So Quickly and Easily You Could Churn Out 50 to 100 In A Day” that seems to be an over-promise. The author, though, gives good web link general resources for information for his article writing.

I particularly appreciate the section here about grammar and spelling. It points out that these are the main reasons why articles are not published. As a courtesy to the reader, writers should indeed thoroughly edit their articles to the best of their abilities before posting these in their websites or submitting them to article directories.

However, this e-book seemed to focus more on marketing than actual article writing. In fact, there were very few tips given in ACTUALLY writing the article.

In this e-book, author Liz Tomey talks about building your customer list the usual way with some twists. He teaches you how to target making profit in the long term and not only in the short term, and for this to be done, certain sacrifices have to made, like giving your joint venture partners a large percent of commissions.

Tomey basically talks about two aspects of list building – one is building a list through other people’s products and the other is through your own products. To give you a clearer understanding of both, he talks not only about what each approach entails but about the pros and cons as well. He presents all the information in an organized way to help you decide on what kind of customer list you would like to build.

I like the section here “A Word of Wisdom Before Getting Started” as it sets you in the right mindset for the rest of the e-book. This e-book also has a very effective title – succinct and communicating a very attractive benefit.

Overall, this is a good and easy read.

This e-book looks like a frequently asked questions page in a website – each question is answered briefly and effectively, although in a very basic way. If not an FAQ, it looks like a compilation of a series of articles on web design. There are several topics discussed here in website building, and each was only covered very briefly. While the topics were discussed quite well, the information given is quite limited.

This e-book does not give a step-by-step method in building profitable websites but instead talks about the many considerations and aspects of website building.

The author, Dirk Dupon, though, already gives quite substantial information however basic. He starts from the rationale behind website building, the basic on websites like HTML and images, the importance of good web design and so on. He also gives web links to aid you on each different aspect in website building, like a link to a tutorial on HTML, optimizing web images, and so on. Date Reviewed: October 12, 2007

In this e-book, Greg Hughes walks you through the steps of building a website – registering a domain name, opening a web hosting accounting, the actual designing, setting up e-mail, and finally, uploading your website.

In each step, Hughes gives substantial information on your options. For web hosting, for example, he discusses the types of web hosting like shared hosting, dedicated hosting, and more and the advantages and disadvantages of each.

In the step on the actual designing and building of the website, the illustrations (sometimes with arrows pointing to relevant areas) were helpful in clarifying each sub-step. The author also gives an assessment of the different web design softwares to aid you in choosing what you feel is best for you.

My only complaint with this e-book is that it sounds like a press release. While an ad at the end or an occasional ad in the body – as long as I am clear it is an ad – is expected, I am a bit put off by the self-promotion strategically woven in the body of the e-book. Somehow, it lessens the author’s credibility.

Review Title: Sharply delivered
Date Reviewed: October 26, 2007

In frank, no-nonsense fashion, Arindam Chakraborty tells you about the common mistakes in bum marketing even experts or old-timers make. She discusses traditional business strategies like not putting all your eggs in one basket and dares to offer a different viewpoint from that of conventional marketing strategies like affiliate marketing and blogging.

She discusses the difference between big, one-time income with regular passive income and how you can achieve the latter. In different words, she also asks the crucial question for those seeking financial freedom: Are you building your own assets or someone else’s assets? She then shows how you can build your OWN assets.

She promotes her product here but I think it forgivable as she puts it in strategic places that are not distracting or annoying. My only nitpick is the grammatical errors in this e-book that could have been absent with just a little proofreading. Overall, though, this is a very good read for Internet entrepreneurs, beginners and old-timers alike.

Review Title: Informative, but could have been written better
Date Reviewed: October 26, 2007

This e-book contains all the basics in bee keeping – from where to acquire bees, the things you need to care for them, and exactly how to care for them. It gives very specific details especially on how to look after the bees and identify possible diseases, as well as getting the honey. The author shows that taking care of bees is possible even in the city.

However, the information here could have been better. First of all, there is no table of contents. There is also no introduction or overview of the book – instead, it jumps straight to bee keeping. Consistently, there is also no conclusion or wrap-up. Also, there is information here that has been repeated, particularly in the first part of “keeping bees in a suburban area.” There is also some missing information here – the list of spots not conducive for bee keeping.

Some information here is also best given in bullet points to make it clearer and less wordy, like the things to consider before doing bee keeping. For step-by-step instructions, like in the rearing and introduction of new queen bees in the colony, numbered bullets will also help.

To make the information here more coherent, the book should be divided into sections and subsections. As the book is written right now, it only looks like a series of articles.

In this e-book, the author gives the simple but sometimes overlooked golden rule in website protection – back up. He gives a good wake-up call by saying that your web host is simply not responsible for backing up your files, so basically it’s your responsibility.

He then gives a step-by-step guide on how to back up your files. What makes his guide very clear are the pictures – particularly the scans of the Internet browser –that accompany each step. Also, he does not limit you to one program for backing up. He gives other program options for doing so. I also appreciate that he gives you extra steps to check if indeed your information has been backed up. Lazy or busy Internet business owners will find that backing up is very easy through the methods the author teaches.

I am happy and have absolutely no problem with this e-book except for a few grammatical errors, but the very substantial information here is already more than enough to compensate.

This e-book focuses more on the right attitude and mindset in setting up an online business rather than on technicalities. There are some practical strategies here, however, that will help your online business succeed and avoid the mistakes 90% of starting Internet entrepreneurs make. Much of the information here may already be known by others, but this e-book drives home the point and underscores the importance of basic principles in online business.

I especially found the section on the difference between working and making deals helpful. It helps you identify what tasks you should focus on to really grow your business – working smart as opposed to working hard. Working too hard is a mistake some enthusiastic entrepreneurs make.

My only nitpick is that the information is a bit redundant sometimes – in the first section, for example, the author talked about how success is not overnight and he repeated the same concept again though in different words in the second section

Overall, this is a very compelling and informative e-book.

What’s more, this e-book appears “international,” with recipes from different countries – American, Mexican, Chinese Italian, Indian, Swedish – you name it!

However, this e-book could have been more reader-friendly. First, the table of contents is basic information. The recipes could have also been categorized so readers will find it easier to locate a recipe. That the recipes are alphabetical does not help so much in this.

The recipes could also have been written better. The instructions could be in numbered bullets, especially for those recipes with long instructions. Granted, a few of the recipes are written this way – this should have just been the format for all the recipes. Also, most of the recipes do not specify how many servings they make.

This e-book shows that being a diabetic does not mean totally sacrificing pleasure and enjoyment in eating. Containing more than 500 recipes, it has recipes for soups, salads, main courses and of course, desserts!

The recipes have clear, easy to follow instructions. Also helpful here is that some recipes show their equivalent in traditional recipes – for example, the tuna salad here “exchanges” two low-fat meat. A few even show the number of calories. For consistency and for more information for the reader, this should be done for all recipes. Also, sometimes the recipes do not specify the exact sugar substitute. For clarity and ease on the part of the reader, the sugar substitute should always be specified.

With so many recipes here in this e-book, it may be difficult for the reader to look for a specific one. The recipes here could have been arranged by type and by subtype (i.e., soup, salad, entrée and dessert for type and cake, pie, cookies for dessert subtype).

All in all, though, this e-book is a must for diabetics who want to “manage” their pleasure in eating.

For aspiring Internet entrepreneurs who do not have the time or knowledge to create a product at the moment but have sufficient finances, this report is for you. Here, authors Mark Hendricks and Michael Nicholas show just how to make money through products with resale rights.

With all the resale right products available out there, the authors teach you how to find the best ones that will bring in customers. They also familiarize you with the jargon in the resale rights world.

Since this report shows that your unique marketing offer is the most powerful tool to sell a product others may already be selling, I would have liked to see more information on this. The tips given here are already good, such as on changing the “look” without changing the content. However, I would appreciate if the tips were more concretized with examples. For example, the authors could have shown an original sales copy and the tweaked sales copy.

Also, the authors did not dwell so much on the specific criteria of a good resale rights product when this is quite crucial. More practical information in this section would help.

Graham shows you what to watch out for in the Internet, especially the get-rich quick schemes. He outlines the traits you need to succeed. He is very blunt about the part on sacrificing leisure money for the business, which I appreciate – if you can’t do this, then don’t go into business.

Also, Graham’s personal and arguably difficult journey to success is the best testimony and proof he can give for the principles he teaches in this e-book.

Through this short but compelling e-book, Graham sets you in the right frame of mind for online success.

Review Title: The blueprint for the mind
Date Reviewed: October 28, 2007

This e-book is really a blueprint for the right mindset for online success and not so much a blueprint for action. Nevertheless, it would be helpful for starting Internet entrepreneurs. Often, the author Willie Crawford is blunt, especially with get-rich quick schemes, where he says you are being lied to because you ask for it.

He tells you straightforward what to do and what not to do. I especially appreciate his advice for newbies on which markets you should not target as you will be losing out to the seasoned marketers. I believe he is the first I have read to point this out to newbies.

The e-book is written with wit and a personal touch and is easy to read. What weakens its impact, though, is the several grammatical errors throughout the text.

Also, what puts me off a bit with this e-book is that the author advertised his product and membership club immediately before he even introduced himself. To some, this may be all right, but I prefer self-promotions to be placed at the end of the e-book, or at the very least, after the author has already introduced himself. Promoting oneself upfront invites skepticism and distrust.

All in all, though, this e-book is a worthwhile read for the beginning Internet entrepreneur.

Review Title: Good guide, but more information please
Date Reviewed: October 29, 2007

This is the dummy’s guide for anyone who wants to make money through accomplishing surveys mostly in the Internet but also offline. Heads up to author Lynne O’Connor for writing an e-book about paid surveys – there are far more resources about online businesses than paid surveys. With paid surveys as a good moneymaking option in the Internet, an e-book like this would be a great help to newbies.

O’Connor gives a short but informative introduction about paid online surveys then separates truth from myth in this industry. This is a good reality check, as some may have the expectations that they can be millionaires from answering surveys.

The directory here of market research organizations looking for respondents in specific countries and internationally are also a good starting point for the paid survey newbie. The companies listed here look credible, particularly international companies like AC Nielsen and TNS.

However, more than three-quarters of this e-book is devoted to the directory. While I have no problem having a comprehensive directory, I wish there were more information. At the moment, the author only gives an introduction, some truths and myths, and tips how to maximize income before going directly to the directory.

Review Title: Looks like good profits
Date Reviewed: October 29, 2007

This is a good read for anyone who wants to earn money online. It offers a variety of moneymaking tips, from the usual online business to selling your services like freelance writing and answering surveys. Though the latter also make good money, I was under the impression that the book would all be about doing business online, as the author Tim Godfrey says in the introduction.

Overall, though, the author does a good job of writing about all those moneymaking tips. He makes most tips clearer and simpler through bulleted items like steps on how to do each tip and pointers for domain names and press release writing. I also appreciate that there is a sample press release here. He also points you to relevant websites if you are seriously considering one of his tips.

He also discusses information not usually found in other e-books, such as the importance internal linking within your website.

My only problem with this e-book is that some of its tips encourage dishonesty for the Internet entrepreneur. It says you can claim to be an expert on something when you are not and also gives a “dishonest” (in the author’s own words) strategy for building a website to generate ad profits. If I were the customer, I certainly would not want to buy a product from a person claiming to be an expert or visit a website with practically no relevant content and has mostly ads.

Review Title: The least you need to know to get started
Date Reviewed: October 29, 2007

This e-book is a very basic, practical guide if you want to start your own online business. It helps put you in the right mindset for the business and tells you all the tools you need, or might need – even tax programs to help you efficiently pay your taxes!

Each chapter is short but packed with information. That the book is presented as a program you can easily navigate (you can go to the next section or go back to the table of contents anytime) makes it very easy to read.

Though the information is well-presented, my nitpick would be that Chapter 4 came a bit too late in the book. Everything should start with the business plan, or better yet, a feasibility study. Before you even execute your plan – buying your equipment, setting up software, you should first have a concrete business plan. The good thing about this section is that it is very thorough, looking at all the basic considerations you need to start your business.

Date Reviewed: October 29, 2007

When I saw the table of contents, or rather, the list, my first impression was that this e-book is a list of questions the starting home business owner would ask and the corresponding answers. However, I thought wrong. As I read through the information, I realize that each section easily flows into the next one. The information is tight and coherent, as any well-written e-book should be. Each item is further clarified through questions or sub-items. The questions and sub-items themselves are aptly titled that they put the ideas in a nutshell but at the same time encourage you to read more.

Anyone who wants to start a home business should read this e-book. I would say this is a checklist of all factors you need to consider. It covers everything, from what you need to start to

While the sections are written with smooth transitions, I expected this e-book to have a wrap-up and conclusion.

Review Title: Tips to get you started
Date Reviewed: October 29, 2007

At first I thought these are all short, one-paragraph tips much like some other e-books, but the tips here are packed with much information. Some tips even give a full explanation and detail how exactly to do it. There are even tips within the tips!

In viral marketing, for example, the author gives factors that characterize viral marketing. For e-book writing, the author outlines the steps and the options you have to write.

The tips here are good starting points if you are an aspiring affiliate marketer. I particularly appreciate that this e-book differentiates the affiliate marketer’s job and the product owner’s job.

However, I don’t get why some tips are more detailed than others. Of course, the length of the write-up varies depending on the topic, but I had hoped that even the short write-ups would have concrete examples. Only the long write-ups have examples, though.

Also, since each tip is detailed, a table of contents listing each tip will make the e-book more reader-friendly. This way, you can easily read the tip which catches your eye.

Review Title: Good presentation

This e-book looks more like a website, but the information is very well-presented. The layout and color theme is appealing, with just the right overall look and photos. I have absolutely no problem with the e-book’s look.

True enough to its website look, it has a navigation bar and all the other navigation options for a website. The first page you see is actually the home page which tells you a bit about the e-book and how to access the e-book.

It is followed by the main page of the contents page. That it is divided into main categories without too many choices in each category makes things easier for the reader. Again, as in a website, information here is also presented in bite-size pieces through articles. The articles are given appropriate and eye-catching titles, such as “10 Worst Gifts a Man Can Buy a Woman.” The write-up on flowers is particularly well-done as it is short, engaging and interactive.

All in all, I would say that this e-book is successful in giving men an idea on the best gifts for women in an entertaining way.

This e-book has recipes of almost every yummy cookie imaginable. It carries recipes of classic cookies like sugar cookies and snickerdoodles and more “sophisticated” ones like tiramisu cheesecake bars. It has cookie recipes for all occasions and some for different occasions like Christmas, Halloween, and Valentine’s Day. There are also a few kids would probably enjoy like the thumbprint cookies.

What I don’t understand, though, is why some recipes are titled with “The Ultimate…” In these cases, the author should provide a valid explanation. You might say that the recipes may speak for themselves, but I don’t quite see the “ultimate” about each.

As with other recipe e-books, this one would be easier to read if only it had a table of contents, categories and subcategories. Putting the cookies in alphabetical order is not very helpful, especially if you want to find a particular recipe. Photos of the baked cookies of selected recipes will also make the recipes more appetizing.

Review Title: Not really that easy, but doable
Date Reviewed: October 30, 2007

In this e-book, Geoff Shaw shows how building a list = building a business, and in turn, building profits. Shaw delivers this in a straightforward and succinct manner. He also shows quite convincingly how investing in a list building promises more stability in profits than any other profit source.

Contrary to what the title says, though, it’s not really easy to build a list. The author recognizes that “list building can be a real pain in the butt” inside the e-book. The title, then, is a bit misleading. But he is right in saying that once you have built your list, profit becomes easier – a single e-mail to your mailing list can generate a lot of profit.

Shaw writes in a very engaging style. He uses attention-getting headlines for each section. Save for a few grammatical errors, his writing style is sufficient to draw the reader in. Also, I like his humor and call to action in the last page.

Overall, this is a good read for anyone who wants to make a stable income online.

Date Reviewed: October 30, 2007

This is a short but engaging report. True to his word in the introduction, author Dirk Dupon shows you in detail what to do and what not to do in setting up and doing your reselling business.

I like how he combines theory and practice in this report. He explains the reselling principles well and gives good examples. Also, he tells exactly what’s in it for you if you apply his advice – or how what he did benefited his business. I like the section on “what a quality e-book package must offer” best as this helps you make a fair assessment on the product before you buy it for reselling. Sometimes Internet entrepreneurs, lured by the promise of profits, may buy rights to a product they could not effectively sell.

I have only a few nitpicks on this report. The title does get attention, but it is a bit overboard especially when you see the author’s realistic take on reselling in the actual report. Also, though the report is short, putting page numbers would help, and of course indicating the corresponding page numbers in the table of contents.

This e-book appears to be a primer on real estate investing, or “creative” real estate investing, as the author put it. It gives you a background on the real estate business plus some definition and explanation of terms related with real estate deals, like “options” and how they work. It tells you where to look for good real estate properties to buy and how you can strike the best deal with the people selling it. It even gives you sample scripts to give you tips on how to talk with property sellers. It also gives advice how you can tell if you can work with a certain person or not. And, of course, there is substantial information here regarding real estate contracts.

I also appreciate how the author attempts to put the reader in the right mindset through his introduction. The author also has a simple, understandable style that can be seen throughout the book.

This e-book, however informative, though appears to be only applicable in the US, although some of the basic information here may be useful for people living in other countries as well.

Review Title: Yes, this IS a magazine
Date Reviewed: October 30, 2007

This is the first time I have read Affiliate Classroom, and I must say that I am impressed with the magazine’s overlook. It is just much like a traditional print magazine, with en eye-catching cover, a main page or table of contents set in different font sizes and colors, then photos and blurbs for each article. What is only missing in terms of content is the editorial or an introductory page that gives an overview of the articles in this particular issue.

Content is tight, with most focusing on pay-per-click advertising, as shown in the cover. For the Internet marketer who wants to use PPC advertising for his/her business, this is a must-read. Though this magazine only has articles as opposed to a full-length e-book, the writers of each article already offer concise, relevant information. Also, though this article is not part of the cover stories, I like Mark Thompson unique take on Google Adwords – as a research tool! And he is able to prove his point in his article.

The magazine, though already good, can still be improved. Katalin Torok’s article, in particular, is already well-written but can be made more specific with examples. What, for example, makes an “intuitive” headline?

In terms of layout, the pages in the table of contents can be made clickable for the reader to easily go to a specific article. This is so that the principle of the traditional print magazine is fully applied. – go to the page of the article of your choice.

Also, I suggest the cover should be more specific to the cover stories. The cover photo right now can represent anything related with computers and does not necessarily relate to PPC advertising.

This is a short but information-packed report. Unlike some e-books which give theoretical or abstract advice, this one is all practice, particularly revolving around the author Richard Quek’s experience. He says it upfront in the introduction or purpose of the report, which I appreciate, so that I won’t have any other expectations.

True enough, the author stuck with what he said he would discuss. And mind you, he discusses it really well by giving very concrete examples. He shows the reader the e-mail trails he sent to set up the successful joint ventures he engaged in while others would only give theoretical advice.

Also, I would have to say Quek used a very smart strategy in writing this report. While showing us how he successfully set up joint ventures, he is promoting his e-book – the product he set up joint ventures for to increase sales. While it looks like he printed all the glowing testimonials to his e-book, I could not fault him for that as doing this is still in line with the purpose of the report.

What Quek did in this report is killing two birds with one stone – and he did it well.

Date Reviewed: October 30, 2007

This e-book is indeed written with men in mind. However, women would find this an entertaining read too. And yes, women can use some of the tips here too.

Some of the ideas here are practical and thoughtful, especially those that would make a woman smile after a busy, tiring day. Some ideas are downright mushy – and I daresay, even corny – but maybe that’s the point. While some would scoff at such ideas (the message on the plastic red rose is a real winner!), they might just get weak in the knees when they are in the receiving end.

Some of the ideas here are the usual romantic ideas while some are novel and require more effort.

Men – especially those who have no idea how to add romance to the relationship – should definitely read this e-book! But of course, sincerity is still key for any idea in this e-book to really work its magic.

Review Title: Yummy – and sinful – treats
Date Reviewed: October 30, 2007

The recipes here promise really yummy treats though I can see the word “cholesterol” in big red font blinking in my mind. The e-book carries recipes of the traditional deep-fried chicken and onion rings (the e-book even has a KFC chicken recipe!) plus other food that can serve as appetizers or main courses as well as fun, sinful desserts like deep-fried Mars bars and of course, deep-fried ice cream! And definitely doughnuts – I believe this recipe book won’t be complete without that classic deep-fried treat.

For the more adventurous taste buds, there are unusual dishes like the fried alligator and French fried skunks. I did a double take when I came across those.

What I was looking for here, though, was a deep-fried Oreo recipe. I believe that one is a classic and should be included here.

All in all, though, this selection of recipes looks great.

The e-book just needs some organization, like a table of contents. Information on serving size should be included in the recipes as well.

If you are thinking of quitting your job and being your own boss but do not have the courage to do it yet, read this book. This e-book shows in detail the success journey of people who resigned or were laid off from their jobs.

The stories are inspiring and thought-provoking. These are stories of ordinary people who thought big and aimed for the extraordinary. Some failed more than once but used their mistakes as foundations for their success.

While this e-book is already good as it is, it can still be further improved, particularly in the way the information was presented. First, this could really use a table of contents so that the reader can go directly to the story of the person who piques his/her interest.

Also, the presentation of information should be consistent. If it is in narrative format, it should be that way for all stories. The e-book right now is a combination of interviews and narratives.

And, while promoting one’s own business or service is acceptable at the end, I would really appreciate reading stories that are not heavy-handed and which do NOT look like a sales copy, unlike Michael Cheney’s story. I hope the next volume will not have any more stories like this one.

This is quite a good issue of Nettle. Looking at the cover, the cover story looks appealing and thought-provoking, probably making one think: “Exactly what is godfather marketing?” The magazine answers this question immediately with the first article. The article delivers a unique and powerful message that Internet marketers may just consider applying in their business. The Godfather as an analogy is simple and illustrative, driving home the point. I wonder, though, why there is no author for this article. The cover story can also be spiced up further through photos – after all, it’s the cover story and should not only read well but also look good.

The other articles in this issue are informative as well. In the segment “The Nettle Magazine Recommends,” the merits of Viral URL were well-discussed. I also particularly like the short but I believe impactful article “How to Create a Super Evangelist” by Sean D’Souza. It shows you just how powerful word-of-mouth marketing can be and how you can maximize it to your advantage.

All the tips here look useful, and some even look unique – which can also translate to profitable – which others may not easily think of.

I especially appreciate the money-saving and time-saving tips Loh gives when you choose the PLR products to buy. I wish more tips were added on how to edit PLR content – I am sure there are more ways than those listed here. Nevertheless, the ones already here are good and something to think about.

Even though this is a short report, it’s good that the author took the time to write an introduction to give an overview of the information. I was just a bit taken aback that the glossary follows right after the introduction, as glossaries are usually at the end of a book. But then I realized it was not a glossary at all as there are very few entries. Loh could change the title to “PLR Basic Terms” or something like that to avoid confusion.

What is especially creative and what tickles the imagination is Lesson 7, which shows different ways of using PLR for profits – ways some people might not imagine. The idea also that you can use the PLR product many times over in different ways might be interesting for Internet marketers.

This looks like a very solid, well-researched guide for those who want to quit smoking. It not only tells you what you should do to quit smoking but makes you understand WHY you smoke. The short tests here can help you understand yourself better.

Its availability in two formats – document and program – also makes it an easy, convenient read.

And aside from telling you what to do, this e-book also prepares you for the things that may happen while you are trying to quit smoking and what you should do in these situations. This e-book gives a short but very systematic program.

What I am just wary about is that it states it advises proven methods without elaborating how exactly these have been proven. Personally I would like to know the success rate of people who applied the methods here.

Since this e-book helps you understand your motivations for smoking, what I would like to see here is a focus on the end result. What would life be like for you after you quit smoking? If the picture you see is very compelling, then you may have more success in quitting.

Review Title: Good tips, but please refine writing
Date Reviewed: November 06, 2007

This is a good read for anyone who wants to create products fast without sacrificing quality. The good thing about the tips here is that some teach you how to strike deals with the experts (or any person that can provide you with information) to create a win-win situation – much like an effective joint venture.

As short as this e-book already is, this could be shortened further for easier reading. Almost all tips begin “You would ask” or “You would ask an expert/content owner (or any person in the know) to.” These make the whole book too wordy. Also using “You would” instead of going straight to the action verb makes the statement less powerful and decisive.

To address this, the tips could be categorized. For example, one category could be “Ask An Expert To” then the tips could be enumerated. This is so the first phrase need not be used over and over.

Also, the first part of the personal interview tip was copied and pasted from the professional interview.

All in all, this e-book is a worthwhile read, but it looks like this e-book was created “super-fast” that the author did not have time to edit.

This e-book is not just about private label rights – it goes a step further by making PLR only as a starting point for making more money. I especially appreciate the author’s advice in using PLR for a membership site and how specifically to keep the membership site up and running.

I totally agree with the author here that the title of the book is crucial – it can make or break your sales. For the people who may doubt this, I am glad the author gave real-life examples on how a simple title change turned sales around. The author himself used an interesting title for the e-book. My only nitpick regarding that title is that it was not linked to the actual content even as a short, simple analogy.

I also like the author’s emphasis on soft selling over blatant advertising as this is a point some Internet marketers take for granted. Blatant advertising can indeed hurt your sales instead of helping them.

The writing style is also flows and conversational. Though the author did not make much use of subheads or breaks, one paragraph usually flows easily to the next.

All in all, this is a very informative e-book.

Beginner bloggers would find this an excellent source. In this e-book, Doug Champigny shows the basics of blogging and promoting blogs for business in simple steps spread out across seven days. To measure your success, he also tells you things you should look at one month after you started blogging.

I especially found the part – or “day” – on social networking and bookmarking of the blog useful as not many beginner bloggers may be familiar with these options to promote their blogs. The advanced options for blog promotion are also helpful.

To make each “day” more eye-catching, though, titles should be more actionable. For example, “giving your readers what they want” can be re-phrased to “identify and give your readers what they want.” Titles should also be placed at the center, directly under each “day.”

Also, there is missing information – probably a link – on how to bookmark a blog aside from the traditional adding to your favorites.

Though Champigny’s light and conversational writing style makes this e-book easy to read, there is sometimes too much text. He can use some bullet points especially in sections where he enumerates (e.g. the popular types of blog posts).

This is not the best writing, considering the fragmented sentences and grammatical errors, but the content is arguably well worth the read.

Review Title: A quicker way to build your list, but does this guarantee profits?
Date Reviewed: November 11, 2007

In this short but substantial report, James Jackson shows how he successfully – and quickly – built his list of subscribers through joint venture efforts. His joint venture strategy is creative and well-executed, to say the least, as it is a win-win situation for everyone concerned.

Jackson very clearly illustrates his strategy for success by printing his actual letter to the joint venture partners here and explaining exactly what makes it successful. Indeed, his letter is straight to the point and strategically written.

While his advice is indeed win-win for everyone, I have some reservations. What I’m particularly wary about is that everyone who joins the contest gets free reseller rights to a product. That could mean a lot of competition not only among those who got it for free but also to the person who gave the resell rights for free – unless, of course, he is no longer planning to sell that product for profits.

But what I am most concerned about is that all contestants get subscribed to the e-zines Jackson partnered with. Assuming he got all contestants in his own list, won’t that still mean that his mails would compete with mails from the other e-zines’ for the subscribers’ attention? To think that the contestant’s inbox would now have mails from five or seven e-zines plus Jackson’s own e-mails.

I am interested to know the profit difference generated from a traditional list to a list built with the help of joint ventures like Jackson’s, although I guess that already goes beyond the scope of this report.

This is another one of Larry Dotson’s books with quick business tips. These are tips to make the wheels of your mind start turning, but not really something you should take action on immediately until after you have done research on what is the best marketing strategy for your business.

That aside, this e-book gives substantial advice on both online and offline marketing for your business. These are quite good marketing tactics, with some very creative indeed. Some even benefit both you and the potential customer. I particularly like the tips here on doing or giving something in exchange for something. It works for both sides. Consequently, applying such tips – after you have assessed if they are appropriate for your business – can pull in profits.

However, while the advice Dotson offers looks valid, it does not guarantee you a six-figure income. In fact, not all of these tips are directly proportional to an increase in income, so the title is a bit of an overpromise. Something like “100 Tips To Effectively Market Your Business” looks more realistic.

Review Title: A good sampler of the real thing
Date Reviewed: November 28, 2007

This e-book is basically just a sampler of the actual product, which is the full e-book of The Giveaway Code plus some companion products. But this is quite a good sampler, nevertheless – enough meat in here to give you the basic information on giveaway strategy and enough left out to keep you interested.

The information on how to prepare your members in your giveaway site may be particularly helpful to those who want to try using giveaway as a strategy. The tip on avoiding being labeled as a spammer is particularly important – simple, but can be overlooked even by old-timers in Internet marketing.

That the author, Bradley Smith, shared his personal experiences in giveaway also lends credibility to the e-book’s content.

To make the full version of the e-book more enticing to the reader, though, I suggest the author put the table of contents at the end of the leaked chapter instead of before. Also, a brief write-up on what the reader can expect – and the benefits he/she will get – upon reading the full e-book will make the sales pitch stronger.

Review Title: A good book for the holidays
Date Reviewed: November 28, 2007

This e-book is aptly called “Christmas Countdown.” Starting from December 1, this e-book presents interesting Christmas trivia on each day and a yuletide recipe on selected days. The candied white pine recipe in connection to the Christmas tree recipe sounds particularly unique and interesting for adventurous palates. The Christmas wallpapers are also a nice treat, conveniently coming in different resolutions for different PCs.

This e-book is Christmas in every sense of the word. The red and green theme, the photos and illustrations, and of course, the content – are all in keeping with the holiday cheer.

This e-book could be further improved, though, in terms of consistency in content and reader-friendliness. In terms of content consistency, the article on Lucia Day which is celebrated on December 13 should not have been set for the December 2 trivia in this book. Also, while the list of articles and recipes at the beginning are a good guide for the reader, page numbers should have been indicated.

Overall, though, this e-book is a good read for the holidays.

Review Title: Good read for starting Internet niche marketers
Date Reviewed: November 28, 2007

True to the author’s title, this is indeed a short and simple guide to finding profitable niches. Its brevity, though, does not sacrifice quality of information. To say the least, the information is well-written and well-organized. The basic information the beginning Internet niche marketer is here, from where to start and also a bit of information on how to market your product.

Especially helpful are the tips the author, Teri Champigny, gives in determining whether a niche is worth investing in or not. She shows just how targeted but only how narrow or big your niche can be.

Also, the information in this e-book is presented in a reader-friendly way. In each step you will find an illustration with red marks to make things easier.

The website links here for niche ideas towards the end of the e-book can also give a good starting point for the Internet niche marketer’s research.

Review Title: Good advice for the reseller
Date Reviewed: November 28, 2007

These are great tips for anyone who wants to resell a good product or products. As most of the e-books and reports I read are for the marketers who want to buy rights, it is refreshing to see a report dedicated to resellers. Some of the tips here may already be obvious to some resellers, but some are quite unique and interesting. I especially like the strategies which give support to the customer like the “workshop strategy,” where the reseller trains his/her customers how to sell the product and the “multilevel support strategy.”

This is similar to another of Larry Dotson’s reports. This one has “table of contents” in the beginning which again, may be helpful to some, but as most of the titles of the strategies do not really give much of an idea unless you read the actual content, they are not of much help if you want to look for a particular strategy. Again, these strategies are better grouped. One group may be termed “labor-saving and time-saving,” another “assurance of high quality,” another “urgency,” and so on.

Review Title: Good techniques, but…
Date Reviewed: November 28, 2007
Reviewer: Claire Madarang

These are all good, well-thought-out techniques that can help beginning Internet marketers build their lists. Some of them are already common, like the strategies on discounts and freebies but they are still worth considering when building a subscriber list. A few, though unique tips, needs to be further clarified, like the “targeted flirting technique,” which does not provide a context for complimenting the potential list subscriber.

The “table of contents” in the beginning may be helpful to some, but as most of the titles of the techniques do not really give much of an idea unless you read the actual content, they are not of much help if you want to find a particular technique. What would help is grouping the techniques. One group could be called freebies techniques, another teasing or sampler techniques, another exclusivity techniques, and so on.

Also, as with some of Larry Dotson’s reports, however short this is, it still tends to get wordy. In particular, almost each advice begins with: “Tell your potential subscribers …” To address this, the author can simply put that statement as an umbrella statement, followed by the tips.

Review Title: Definitely a good read
Date Reviewed: November 28, 2007

This is a very good issue of Affiliate Classroom. The succinct and useful advice from old-time Internet marketers featured in the editor’s corner is a strong start for this issue.

The cover story on resale rights, though long, is a very informative and engaging read. Information on the changing landscape of resale rights and the definition and differentiation of the different kinds of resell rights provide good context even for the newbie. The ten tips at the last part of the article, on the other hand, may also be useful to veterans. The brief sidebars to the article provide not only a break for the eye but also useful tips.

The article about “spring cleaning” your affiliate business is also quite informative. Particularly interesting is the tip on doing a “garage sale” – now that’s like real-life house cleaning, only with a twist.

In terms of reader-friendliness, this issue scores very high. Color and photos were used where appropriate – just enough to keep the magazine animated but not so much that it already distracts from the content. Sidebars and blurbs are also strategically placed.

Review Title: Brief but informative guide
Date Reviewed: November 28, 2007

This is a short but useful guide in writing and marketing an e-book. Originally this has been presented as short lessons which I believe are effective as each lesson functions like a step in the entire process.

The author Dirk Dupon gives simple, actionable tips in each lesson. The links to websites which can help in each step of the process are also a good resource for the aspiring e-book writer and marketer.

I agree with the author that writing is an e-book is about what you say when he said “It's not about HOW you write, it's about WHAT you have to say” but how you say it is also important. Saying it in an effective way will effectively communicate to your audience. If you have trouble communicating, your reader won’t get your message. And of course, if you have no writing experience, get a good editor to save your readers the headache of reading through faulty sentence constructions and grammatical errors.

All in all, though, this e-book is an informative read.

Review Title: Essential guide to writing classified ads
Date Reviewed: November 28, 2007

This is a very simple yet comprehensive guide to writing profitable classified ads. It covers the basics – as some may forget these – and more, such as responding to customer inquiries on the classified ads and additional web resources on classified ads.

The e-book is also set to look like a website with an appealing color theme and layout. The menu bar on the left side enables easy navigation.

I appreciate that the fundamental rules of marketing communications as well as the universal advertising attributes were discussed in this e-book as some Internet marketers may have forgotten these or have ignored these. Also, the write-up on the purpose of a classified ad may help set the right perspective for the marketer.

What I would have liked to see here, though, are samples of effective classified ads. Though the author gave an actual phrasing of a classified ad in Chapter 9 (How You Actually Do It), more would be better, particularly if a specific item in the menu bar were dedicated to this alone.

All in all, though, this e-book is a very good read.

This is a very simple and straightforward guide on how to use FTP to transfer computer files to your website. But while it is simple and straightforward, every step you need to take is here in this report – from FTP program installation to actual use. Also, each step is accompanied with an illustration, particularly a screen capture of the window of the program. There is no way you can get it wrong.

Not only does this guide teach how to install and set up FTP, it also teaches you to check if in fact your files have been uploaded to your website.

Everything you need is right here in this report. And, in case you encounter problems, the author provided links to support and help sites.

Just a nitpick, though - while I have no problem with the fact that he based his tutorial on the FTP program WS_FTP Pro, I hope he explained why this is his program of choice. For example, is there an advantage using this over other programs?

This is the first thing that you should read if you are interested in going into niche marketing. As this report is very brief, the information is easy to digest but is enough to put you on the right perspective. It does not give the details, but the basics. You can research on it later on once you decide how to pursue your niche marketing business.

I beg to disagree, though, that niche marketing is an either-or decision between following your passion and following the money. I believe the two models here can be integrated.

Also, the title is quite misleading. First, the models here are not breakthrough but fairly common (although these may be breakthrough to some) but sometimes overlooked. Also, applying either of these models is not the “lazy way” to “online fortune.” In fact, the author himself later admitted that these take a lot of time and effort.

Review Title: Good guide, but…
Date Reviewed: November 28, 2007
This is a very simple, easy-to-understand guide. The contents are even set up similar to a website for easier reading. I also appreciate that there is only so much text on each page/section that it is easy to read.

However, the information is general in some sections and not too specific on resell rights. While the information here on setting up a website and a payment processor is helpful for setting up your resell rights package online, the advice here can be applied to ANY product. While all this advice may be important to someone who bought resell rights to a product and has no idea how to sell it, I was looking for more tips on how to bundle the products for resell. This was covered in “packaging products and setting up bonuses,” but barely.

Also, there are hot tips in yellow boxes at the bottom of each page. While these are helpful, ideally, the topic on the box should be related to the article discussed on the said page. For example the tip about advertising should be on the page with the advertising article.

These are very useful tips to the beginner as well as the seasoned Internet marketer. Denise Hall not only gives the general tips – she gives details. And often these are the small details which some may overlook but can make a big difference in sales. Especially helpful is Tip # 3 (selling to your prospect in your first 50 words of copy) as it has a sample sales copy with it.

This report is quite well-written. The title itself is enough to lure you. It is very exact (i.e., 15 Secrets), concise and the benefits it offers look promising. The entire report is also brief but packed with useful information. Each tip, though, could have been summed up in a single phrase or statement instead of just titling each tip as “Turn Visitors Into Buyers Tip #___.” This is also to facilitate easier recall on the part of the reader, especially as there are 15 tips here, and not a small number like five.

Review Title: Good answers to relevant questions about resale rights
Date Reviewed: November 28, 2007

This report is quite comprehensive and enlightening. It reads like the Frequently Asked Questions in a website but this style looks like the best and most suitable to address all the issues this report covers about resale rights. It tackles the most important concerns of people interested in buying resell rights to a product. It gives relevant answers and in some cases, out-of-the-box advice that proved to be effective in the author’s case.

People might be particularly interested with the answer to Question # 2, or how they can be unique compared to the other people who bought the rights to a product. The author gives quite illuminating answers on this. I also like the answer to Question # 8, which explains what a “traffic funnel” is and how to build it.

The write-ups on some pages are quite lengthy, but what I appreciate is that the author took the trouble to summarize major points towards the end.

Though the report is already a winner in terms of content, it can be made more reader-friendly. A table of contents on the left side or below the page can help the reader go to a particular question faster instead of pressing “previous page” or “next page” only.

Review Title: What was that again?

This report is a deluge of affiliate links. While there are some helpful information here, they tend to get drowned out by the affiliate links. The affiliate links are the “star” of the show, so to speak. There is not much background or contextual information on generating traffic for your website. In fact, I had to re-read the report to see if I just missed any valuable information.

I appreciate, though, that there are step-by-step instructions in using the affiliate or recommended programs here. Illustrations, though, would make following the instructions easier.

Overall, I would say this report is mostly promotion and sorely lacking in valuable content. A pity, as the title looked very much enticing and promising. This could have been a great report if the author knew how to strategically place promotion vis-à-vis valuable content. Or simply write in a style that is a bit subtler and not blatantly promoting.

Review Title: The basics and complexities of landscaping
Date Reviewed: November 29, 2007

This is quite a thorough e-book written for the meticulous, albeit beginner, landscaper. It has everything from landscape planning, construction and maintenance. What I like about this e-book is that it teaches how to integrate practicality with aesthetics in landscape design. Plus the synergy or the visual relationship between your house and the landscape – these two should look good together.

This is not only a landscaping guide – this is a very informative gardening guide as well. The types of plants, trees and flowers you can plant are each discussed in detail. There are types of ferns, roses and more. Of course, annuals and perennials are also well-covered. There are even instructions for irrigation here.

Particularly interesting is the section on landscaping for saving energy – so certain trees can actually help you reduce energy consumption!

I would have liked to see more photos and illustrations here, though. There are already some in the first few sections, but there were no more in the end. The sections about additional landscape constructions like terraces and backyard ponds, I believe, particularly need photos.

Review Title: Good advice and reality check
Date Reviewed: November 29, 2007

I like the style of this author – direct, no-nonsense and in-your-face writing. Not to mention that the information he gives here is something that affiliate marketers – especially beginning ones – sorely need to read. Giving the hard facts about affiliate marketing as well as the perks – if you work hard on it – and backing them up with interviews with successful affiliate marketers make this a credible and informative e-book.

There are also several interesting details in this e-book. The story about Frank “the leader,” for example, is quite funny and drives home the point about advertising. The author also gives good advice on what you should watch out for in advertising, particularly scams and money-burners.

I just wish, though, that he got interviews from other affiliate marketers and not just those based in ISORegister. Getting all interviews from ISORegister is a bit of self-promotion, as the author is both its president and founder. Interviews from other affiliate marketers would make this book more objective.

Review Title: Looks promising, but couldn’t get through
Date Reviewed: November 30, 2007

The main page is well-written and quite informative and has a short, attention-grabbing headline that speaks well for the rest of the book’s content. The text underneath which serves as a companion to the headline offers a benefit that may be irresistible to the Internet marketer.
And it’s not just the headline – the entire copy is quite interesting, starting off with the interesting trivia that 75 percent of buying decisions are based on the headline. But what struck me most was the point that "Your Headline Is An Ad For Your Ad." This is very true, though some Internet marketers may overlook this. This is why the author emphasizes that headlines should be tested, to which I agree. This is just like in market research, where a product is tried out by consumers first before it is released in the market.
Unfortunately, I could not get through to the actual 100 headlines. There seems to be some problem with the e-book. I suggest that the author fix this immediately as it is a shame to read a good write-up about the headlines only to find out that the “world’s greatest 100 headlines” are not there at all.

This is another one of Larry Dotson’s books that can stimulate your mind and get you started. The tips here are timely and relevant and can be applied to your business, should the tip be appropriate for your context.

The best tips here, I believe, are the ones that set up win-win situations with the people you deal with. Or something in exchange for something. These are the most effective in the long run.

Some of the advice here, though, is somewhat similar to his advice in the other e-books related to e-book rights. Since these e-books are all related, why not just bundle them together in one product?

Also, again, as with his other e-books, presenting the tips in groups would make things easier on the part of the reader. The group names could just be the one indicated in the table of contents – with page numbers, of course.

I must agree with the author here, though, that just learning one of the tips here can make a big difference to your profits.

I believe this is the same e-book as “How To Be A Red Hot Persuasion Wizard In 20 Days Or Less.” Both the title and the cover have improved – and yes, are more persuasive.

The sample chapter here is quite informative and thought-provoking. The author aptly uses the term “magic button,” as that is what it is – a magic button you have to find and press at the appropriate moments. The advice here is already complete in itself and would help you well even if you don’t read the rest of the e-book. But it may just be interesting enough to pique the curiosity of some people to go and get the entire e-book.

Also, compared to the sales pitch of an earlier sample chapter of this e-book, the pitch here is more persuasive. Now there are testimonials from satisfied readers as well as an outline of the benefits you will get if you apply the principles in the book. What I would like to see here, though, in addition to the testimonials and benefits, is an outline of the full e-book’s contents to give the potential customer an idea of what he/she can expect to find in the e-book.

This is a pretty thorough Christmas coloring book ¡V almost everything related to Christmas is here. There are pictures of the Christmas tree, presents, candy canes, snowflakes, gingerbread men, different Christmas decorations, and more. And of course, Santa Claus! For children with Christian upbringing, the pictures of the Church, Madonna and Baby Jesus and the shepherd (although these should have been shepherds ƒº ) are good. Kids would like this.

For the adults who would print this book out, I appreciate that there are instructions on how to do so, especially on the print settings. My only nitpick is that some of the drawings have thicker lines and thus consume more ink, like Kitty Cat Christmas, Smiling Candle and Smiling Candy Cane.

That aside, though, this is a good coloring book. And though this is only intended for printing, I appreciate that the author put effort in laying it out ¡V the introductory and ending pages look very colorful and Christmassy.

This report shows an easy – and free – way to promote your business online and link up with potential customers and even customers who will spread the good word about your business. This report gives a quite convincing argument that social networking sites can be used not only for socializing but also for promotion. It is not hard to believe, considering that its claims are backed up by recent interesting statistics on visits to social networking sites. Though the author does not state this outright, the potential of social networking sites as a marketing tool is indeed quite promising, considering that a small percentage is only doing it at the moment.

Signing up and making use of the features of the top social networking sites are also covered quite well in this report. Also, the use of illustrations, particularly screen captures, help make the instructions clear. The list of up and coming social networking sites are also helpful to keep the Internet marketer updated.

Not only is the content valuable, this report is quite well-written as well – light and conversational yet very informative. This report is definitely a good read.

Review Title: Worth reading reports

These two reports by Michael Nicholas are both short but informative.

I like the pun the author used on Other People’s Money, making it the use of Other People’s Knowledge through article wrapping. And I agree that you can leverage on other people’s articles for your own profit, as writing full articles can be time-consuming. The author even put a template with instructions to guide you for your article wrapping. What is missing in this report, though, is an example – an original article and a “wrapped” article. That would have made things clearer.

The other report takes a different approach. The niche toolbox report is less on text but more on resource links that the author thinks will help the niche marketer. While some of these links are not really promotion, as is the case in some reports which only throw affiliate links haphazardly, I would have wanted to read more background advice here instead of being taken directly to the links.

Most of the information here is basic and can already be found in other self-help or self-development books, but this is still worth a read, even if only to remind yourself of the classic self-development principles. There are also some fairly new concepts like self-hypnosis which is well worth a try.

What I also appreciate in this e-book is the additional advice in the end which is not present in most self-help books – consolidation. I agree with the author that this is the key to moving forward in your self-development.s

While this e-book is quite well-written, it tends to get too wordy. And the e-book is just too text-heavy. Subheads would help. Sidebars or boxed information would do well here too. Some of the information here can also be presented in numbered steps, such as in the chapter “Plan for Success.”

Also, while there are practical exercises here, the writing is mostly theoretical. I was looking for case studies of successful people as these make self-help books more compelling.

Review Title: This is worth a try

This reminds me of those twelve-step programs, though this only has six stages and not steps. This is quite a hopeful and empowering e-book. The first chapter itself opens you to new possibilities – that people can indeed change. You can free yourself from that bad habit. I like that the author also underscores real freedom from the bad habit, and not merely getting into another bad habit to substitute the bad habit that has been given up, as is the case for some people.

The stages here make sense – they sound natural, especially Stages 1 (Denial) and 2 (Awareness). What comes after, though, makes the world of difference. Keeping an active lifestyle while getting rid of a bad habit also makes sense – it is kind of replacing the positive with the negative. This way, you don’t replace the negative with another negative. The quotes at the start of each stage are also apt openers and set the tone for each stage.

This is well worth a shot for anyone who wants to get rid of a bad habit.

Though this e-book offers advice that can be applied anytime, whether during the holidays or not, the advice here is particularly relevant for the Christmas season, given the holiday rush in buying presents. Especially when, caught in the holiday mood, we may be more relaxed and less careful in making purchases.

Protection of the privacy of your personal information and financial transactions is particularly important, and it’s a good thing that this e-book detailed much advice on this. Damage control, as in the case of lost debit cards, is also covered here – and discussed quite well.

The tips for safe online shopping towards the end of the book give the most thorough advice, from finding out more about who you’re buying from to making your payment secure. And of course, the wrap-up the author gives at the end of the book drives home the point – that shopping online is basically the same as shopping in a mall. And yes, safety measures are necessary.

If you are planning to shop online this Christmas – or anytime, for that matter – read this book.

These look like great, mouthwatering recipes. And they are quite easy to prepare, too – which they should be, as cooking will be done while on camp. Even while you have limited cooking equipment, the possibilities are endless. There are recipes to suit all kinds of taste buds, from the classic camping recipes like s’mores (the version here sounds yummy) to the unusual like berry stew. For those who want to try recipes from different countries, this e-book is also just right for your cravings – there are Caribbean, Australian, Polish, Indian and more.

While I have no complaints with the content (this is full marks), I wish it would be easier to find a recipe in this e-book. As it is right now, the table of contents simply provides a listing of the recipes. There are no page numbers. The recipes could also have been grouped – again, for easier location of recipes. My suggestion would be grouping them by meal and by snack. These could also be sub-grouped further.

All in all, though, this e-book shows that delicious could be simple and easy.

Review Title: Good recipes, but difficult to read
Date Reviewed: November 30, 2007

I know this product is intended for re-sell or re-packaging, but how I wish the author had put more thought into the layout and readability of the PDF format. The e-book is simply heavy with text, with no break for the eyes. Photos would have helped. Or simply allotting just one recipe per page, as other cookbooks do, would make a big difference in readability. The font size of the title and the body of the recipe should also have been different – again, for easier reading.

There is also no table of contents or even a listing to guide the reader. You have to swim through – or drown – through all this text just to find a recipe.

That aside, though, the recipes here look great. There are basic loaf recipes and unique and interesting ones like Oreo cookie bread and hot jalapeño bread. For healthy options, I am particularly curious about the heavenly whole wheat bread, as whole wheat bread is supposed to be healthy and not too “pleasurable.”

Most of the recipes here look interesting to try.

Review Title: Effective sampler
Date Reviewed: December 05, 2007

The sample chapter here makes a quite convincing argument for the power of expectation. Through strong statements and examples, the author effectively shows just how powerful it is.

Again, for a sample chapter, this report is already packed with valuable information. I especially like the author’s statement on the power of assumption and unconscious suggestion. Also, the examples of presuppositions here look quite interesting to try out.

This chapter, though, looks like a revision of an earlier introductory sample chapter of this e-book (with a different title and cover). Which makes me think that the author re-wrote the book. Hopefully he did, and the introductory chapter is already different so as to avoid repetition of information in different chapters.

My only nitpick is that a few grammatical errors slipped the author’s notice. And again, as with other reports using a sample chapter of the full e-book, the author should have outlined the contents of the full e-book at the end of this report. Although some may argue that the testimonials and summary of benefits are already enough, I believe an outline of the contents would make his sales pitch for the full e-book more effective.

Review Title: Information marketing strategies to consider
Date Reviewed: December 05, 2007

This looks like a good e-book to read before you market your information product. This can open your mind to the possibilities and help you choose which strategy is best for your product.

The “original recipe tactic” particularly sounds effective – that your content is 100% original may be a good selling point.

Again, some of the advice here is quite similar to Dotson’s books dealing with rights. Bundling these products together may be a good idea.

As with some of Dotson’s books, this one also tends to get verbose. Almost each tip begins with “Tell your prospects how…”, which slows down reading. Again, this may be resolved by an umbrella statement while each tip goes straight to the point.

What is not clear at the start of this e-book, though, is who your audience is for your marketing. This only becomes clearer as you read through the e-book – your pitch is for other Internet marketers after all. This fact should have been clarified in the e-book cover or in the introduction.

Date Reviewed: December 05, 2007

Among the niche marketing books I have read so far, this is the most insightful. It combines quality information and insights from the author’s experience.

There a lot of a gems here in this e-book in terms of advice. You will learn why even people with great ideas fail, for instance. I also agree with the author’s point that people mostly buy solutions – yes, not just your ordinary information. Her sales pitch for information as a product is also quite convincing – “you can write it once and sell it forever!” I also like how she stimulates your imagination, particularly with the section “If You Had The Opportunity To Talk With An Internet Marketing Millionaire…”

The author could have had her work edited, though – there are quite a number of grammatical errors in this book.

Also, though the title “Confessions of a Niche Marketing Maniac” is catchy, this could have been catchier is she told out straight what her book had to offer.

All in all, though, this is a must-read for aspiring and even old-time niche marketers.

Review Title: Not for beginners, but nice patterns
Date Reviewed: December 05, 2007

The patterns here look all nice and should I say, a bit complicated, so this e-book is not for your novice crocheter. There is no introduction of any sort to the art of crocheting or the materials needed but the e-book instead goes directly to the crochet patterns and instructions.

The patterns are diverse and seem to give the message that you can crochet quite a lot of objects – purses, bedspreads, dolls, hats and more. It just takes some imagination.

While the patterns here look nice, though, the instructions would have been clearer if they were accompanied with some photos. These would help, even to people not new at crocheting. Also, the photos of the patterns look good as well but they would have been more attractive had they all been in color. At the moment, most are black and white.

Overall, though, this collection of patterns are worth trying out by anyone who has crocheting skill.

Review Title: Keys to Internet marketing success
Date Reviewed: December 06, 2007

Very well-said. I like the author’s analogy of the keys and how well he articulated his points. The e-book offers valuable insights from start to finish, albeit sometimes in sharp wit.

Some of the points here may hit quite a few nerves, but they are eye openers as well. It’s to say – before you can be successful, you have to lay down firm foundations first. It’s looking at life holistically and not just at your desire to start an Internet marketing business, as the rest of your life affects that as well.

My favorite would be the book’s section about saving, or becoming a Viking, where the author shares statistics that income and chance events are not really the factors affecting wealth.

To be clear that each section is a key, though, it would have been better if for example you label “Part I – Your Why” as “Key #1 – Your Why” instead.

That aside, though, this e-book is a must-read.

Review Title: A sales pitch, but worth considering
Date Reviewed: December 06, 2007

The author tells you upfront that this is indeed a sales pitch for his product right from the introduction of this report. He argues a pretty convincing case, though – that Internet marketers can indeed suffer from information overload and that his organizing product will help. I wish there were some statistics to back that up, though, although the claim that many Internet marketers have a difficult time organizing information sounds valid.

The “[un]obstrusive, helpful text link” also appears innocuous and looks like good marketing for the author’s product. This looks like a well-disguised affiliate link, in other words.

The author also took the trouble to outline the steps – albeit simple – on how to get and use his product. While this is quite a convincing sales pitch, though, I hope that an updated version of this report with supporting statistics about his customers will be uploaded.

Overall, this is a good sales pitch.

Consistency is key. This is what the author emphasized in the beginning and what she seems to be illustrating when she wrote this book – there is something for you to read and something to work on everyday without fail, much like a workbook. Only, this book is packed with valuable information as well. Think of it as lecture and practical exercises in one package.

The author also takes measures to ensure that you are on track, as he allots days for your “support team” meetings. This is a powerful measure as many people who take training programs stop later on when they just do it on their own.

I like how the author wrote this in a very personal way and how she stays with you from start to finish, as though she is a loyal friend or supporter in your journey to success. This writer knows how to build a relationship with the reader, no doubt about it.

All in all, the training program in this e-book is worth a try.

Now this report is short and sweet – just six pages! But this is not just a directory of free e-zines as it also outlines things you should consider in choosing the right kind of e-zine advertising for your business. This is a good start of the report instead of it going directly to the list of e-zines.

As there are a lot of e-zine links here (the Internet marketer would sure take some time to visit most of these!), the list can be quite daunting. Proper categorization of the links instead of just listing them here would help. There is already an attempt to categorize them between individual and groups but these could be further narrowed down. Also, not all links have descriptions. For consistency and easier identification on the part of the reader, there should be at least a brief description for ALL links.

That aside, for anyone who would like to advertise on an e-zine, this directory is worth a try.

This is a fun and entertaining but very informative report. At my first look at the e-book cover I thought the author was going to discuss each graphic mistake in detail. But he did something even better – he just outlined the ten common graphic mistakes (which are quite self-explanatory) and then proceeded to give website examples with those mistakes. I like the author’s wit and humor, particularly how he “diagnosed” each website and
”prescribed” the solution. He gives a pretty thorough review and specifies exactly what mistakes the website in question made.

The author’s illustrative writing style is way more effective for learning and application than just discussing the common graphic mistakes one by one.

This report is quite timely. Internet marketers sorely need to read this report, as majority of the websites I have visited so far have one or several of these mistakes. After all, the look of your website can actually make or break your sale.

This is a good e-book for those who do not know where and how to start writing articles. At first I thought it was just like the usual reports and e-books I read about article writing, especially in overcoming writer’s block. However, this one proved to be different.

The author gave very concrete, practical tips to get you started. Illustrations even accompany tips where appropriate. The author also consistently uses one sample topic throughout the e-book. All the tips are useful, but what struck me most was the mind mapping technique, which seems to be an effective way to get your thoughts organized.

And, this e-book is not just about writing articles – it is about writing articles on topics that people really want to read.

And, as a sweet ending to this e-book, the author even recommends a list of resources.

This e-book is indeed a must-read for anyone who wants to write articles that really “sell.”

True to its title, the report gives unique, out-of-the-box ideas that can get the private label rights purchaser excited. There are a lot of possibilities with PLR, and in this report Paul Kleinmeulman gets the wheels of your mind turning with just some of these possibilities.

The concept of using good bait to lure your potential customers is quite well-discussed here, for example. I also particularly like the win-win tips here, especially the one on fundraisers – that sounds like social entrepreneurship.

And this report is not just about using and modifying the PLR product per se – the author also gives tips on how to set up the systems that will allow the idea to work. There is a plethora of different advertising techniques as well, from the usual to the relatively new, like social networking websites.

With the seemingly endless possibilities in PLR, this report may also just be the catalyst for you to come up with innovative ideas of your own. Even that alone makes this report a must-read.

Now this is Internet marketing in simple, understandable terms. Richard Quek even gives a simple diagram to summarize the entire Internet marketing process.

I would recommend that this report be the first document an aspiring Internet marketer should read. It is quite simple – the newbie would understand the basic concepts better and not get overwhelmed when presented with too much information. I also wholeheartedly agree with the author when he said that complexity – or perhaps complication – is one reason why Internet marketing success remains elusive.

Just a few nitpicks, though – first, the author would do well to review his work for grammatical errors. Second, while I do get why the author calls his diagram and explanation the “Internet Success Cycle,” (you essentially go back to developing new products and services again, or fine-tune them), the cycle aspect was not really explained in this report. That point is quite important, especially when I believe this report is suitable for aspiring Internet marketers.

Internet niche marketing reports and e-books abound online nowadays, but this one is still worth reading, if only for the very clear advice and organized information. Joe Tiew’s step-by-step instructions are easy to read and comprehend. His writing is also tight and coherent.

There are also some insightful tips here that other niche reports do not zero in. The section here on profitability check of niche is particularly very thorough. Aspiring niche marketers might just take a tip or two from this section.

There are even tips within the tips – press release writing and joint ventures are covered in this report as well. While these may be useful to some readers, I do believe these are not really necessary. It kind of takes out the “niche feel” in this niche marketing report.

Also, however good the writing is, the document appears too text-heavy. Some photos or illustrations would be a welcome break to the eyes.

Overall, though, this is worth reading.

These all sound like good advice. Even though a lot of the tips here have already been said in other e-books and reports, there are quite a number of new concepts, like raising the bar in terms of your marketing message’s impact. There are also some out-of-the-box ideas.

The writing style is also personal, witty and sometimes humorous, making this already short e-book a breeze to read. Each tip is almost like a catchphrase, and thus, easy to recall and “invoke” when in doubt over marketing decisions.

And even though this e-book is already short and easy to read, the author even took pains of having it laid out well. I wonder, though, why the tips are not numbered, considering that the number “107” was emphasized in the title. I also wonder if there is a special reason behind the number 107.

Though this e-book is already good as it is, the information could have been organized better by categorizing similar information. But this minor issue does not eclipse the success of this e-book, which is well worth reading.

This is quite an informative issue. List building has always been a relevant concern among Internet entrepreneurs. The three cover stories are worth reading. The article on writing gift e-mails is also quite helpful especially for the entrepreneur who finds his or her sales declining.

Also, in terms of look, this is undoubtedly a magazine. Though not a print magazine, the cover and the layout (with all the blurbs) are very much similar to the print format. The table of contents, though, are clickable to make finding an article easier. I wonder, though, why there are not too much regular sections or columns as in usual magazines.

My personal nitpick is that a few grammatical errors have somehow slipped the editor’s notice. I would expect a magazine to be subjected to more editing compared with some e-books or newsletters as magazines are more “official” publications. The misspelling of “entrepreneur” in “online entrepreneur,” in particular, is very glaring in the cover and takes off points from the magazine’s professional look.

This is a report every Internet marketer who wants to apply SEO to his or her website should read. The points Congreave raised are interesting, valid and will probably be eye-opening to some.

This report is actually a sampler of a full e-book on SEO, but it is nevertheless a good stand-alone report, particularly for beginners in SEO. It may also be a refreshing reminder to SEO veterans.

The author boldly claims at the end of the report that “This is as simple and as straightforward as SEO gets.” That sounds promising for the full e-book. With the author’s simple, easy to follow, “let’s-get-down-to-it” writing style in this report, the e-book looks just like that.

This report is just advice on resell rights given in bite-size pieces through five lessons. While there is really nothing new with the tips discussed here, presenting them as a mini-course may be refreshing to some readers. There are also examples and illustrations where appropriate to drive the point better.

I wonder, though, why the author only used five tips for this mini-course as there are many more lucrative strategies for resell rights.

Also, this report is teeming with grammatical errors – even in the bold red lesson titles. A few are ok, but there are just too many here that they are already too distracting – not to mention irritating - and thus weakens the points the author is trying to make. The author would do well to have his report reviewed by a competent editor. No, scratch that. He should just hire a professional writer to re-write the report altogether.

Rob Anderson is a very good interviewer as well – asking compelling questions and relevant follow-up questions. The question and answer session also has much insights. There are several gems of information in this interview. I especially like Chris Elliott’s point about being a real person to potential customers instead of being a “canned corporate template.”

Towards the end of the question and answer portion, Elliott shares a way to make money without a product and without a website. The offer may sound a bit too good to be true, so anyone who wants to do it should still use due diligence – and of course, do research.

Just a few nitpicks on the presentation of information here – first, there are no photos here of the screen captures of Chris Elliott’s laptop screen which I believe he showed to his audience in the question and answer section. Also, the title is misleading – this e-book is not a step-by-step blueprint but an interview that jumps from topic to topic.

This is indeed a gourmet recipe cookbook. Recipes with sophisticated-sounding French titles, for example, are definitely here. Despite this, though, the ingredients look accessible – not really hard to find, so easy for home cooking.

The breadth of recipes here is impressive – from appetizers to desserts. I wish there were more soup recipes, though, as there only about five or less than five recipes here. Also, since this is a gourmet cookbook, the table of contents would look better if it were grouped into appetizers, soups, entrees and desserts. And there should definitely be clickable corresponding page numbers per recipe in the table of contents to make finding a recipe easy.

Also, to make this e-book viewer-friendly and printer-friendly, only one recipe should be placed per page. As it is right now, the layout is quite problematic. The recipes actually begin right below the table of contents, and not on the page after. Photos of some of the best recipes here would also make the e-book more appealing.

It was written not only to show the “how” of Internet marketing, but also to psyche one up to the “success” mindset and attitude for it. This actually focuses more on the principles – the foundations – for Internet marketing. Any starting Internet marketer would do well to read this book.

It helps that the author, Doug Champigny, writes in a very positive, upbeat and enthusiastic manner that spurs one to take action. There are also photos that keep the mood light and lively.

The “fast lane” here kind of reminds me of the “fast track” in Robert Kiyosaki’s Cashflow game – and it does have that positive effect. An indeed, this e-book appears to offer advice that will bring the beginner to the fast track to Internet marketing success.

This e-book is already good as it is, but what would make it really good is if there were worksheets and exercises to help the reader in developing the right mindset and attitude. After all, this e-book is like a coaching program.

The prospect of getting passive income through one-time referrals to pay per play is explained well in this report.

But while the offer sounds very appealing – who wouldn’t be attracted to an idea that would give you passive income? – prudence should still be exercised. After all, there might be a catch somewhere. Homework should still be done.

What’s more, although this report seems to present an irresistible offer, it lacks on the how to, particularly how and where to look for pay per play advertisers for your website. The report actually focused more on the how to of the referrals than on getting PPP ads in your site, which is actually more important.

The writer, Mary Wilson, perfectly captures the scene of Christmas spent at home with the family. I can clearly see the picture she is describing in my mind.

The Christmas quiz that follows is quite entertaining and challenging – it would be even for trivia masters, I think. This is home business strategy with a twist. Instead of doing it alone – albeit with the advice of Internet marketing gurus – as is the default advice of usual e-books and reports, author Darlene Hull here lays down a business strategy for group success. And this makes sense. Being in a group of passionate individuals working together to success does wonders especially when one is feeling discouraged. Your group can also function as a support group so that you go on with the business and not give up. Masterminding is a very powerful success tool, as other motivational and self-help gurus can attest to.

But even without the mastermind advice, this e-book offers really good tips. I especially like the author’s concept on spiral marketing, where you start with something small and when it gets big, you can already invest in the big. Starting with a small capital is indeed ideal for stay-at-home moms should they have not much for business.

This e-book is a must-read for aspiring home business owners, not just for moms.

However, I was disappointed when I found that the report was not as precise and strategic as expected – it merely offered tips on how to boost traffic. And these are tips that I believe others have already read or heard countless times. What’s more, each article is quite wordy and thus makes the points confusing. Bullet points would have been effective.

This report is in fact a teaser to the actual seven-day course which is free, anyway, so that somewhat lessened my disappointment. The title of this report, though, is misleading and should be changed.

Perhaps it would be better to just skip this report and go directly to the free seven-day mini-course.

Date Reviewed: December 28, 2007

This looks like a good index of websites that will help you to build lists, although I cannot say if these are exhaustive. It helps that the author who compiled this list included a description, web rankings and the date the website was launched. This would help interested Internet marketers’ preliminary research in choosing a good website to help them build their lists. However, this list would have been better had the author Shane Wilson given a review for each website – or at the very least, an objective description – to really help Internet marketers decide on the best website to help them. The descriptions right now are simply advertisements of the websites themselves.

Having said that, though, the list here is already a good lead. The supplementary articles in this report are a good read as well – very short but informative. I thought at first that they were just fillers to this report but their information is quite good. I especially found the first article, “5 Ways to Get People to Open Your Emails,” quite helpful.

Review Title: Good information but beside the point
Date Reviewed: December 28, 2007

This is a good short read on blogs for Internet marketing. The information here is quite helpful. And of all the sections here, I find the section on the advantages of niche blogs most helpful and informative. His mention of the “stickiness” factor here reminds me of Malcolm Gladwell’s point in “Tipping Point.” Though the context here is different, the point is valid.

But however helpful the information here is, if it digresses from the main idea and does not really expound on the main idea at all, this report is rendered ineffective. I expected this report will be about “profit-pulling niche blogs with Wordpress,” as the title says, but I saw very little of that explained in this report. While the advantages of Wordpress are explained, this report does not tell you how to actually do the blog. This report focused more on principles than practical advice, which is quite disappointing, as the title promised the latter.

Review Title: So-so report
Date Reviewed: December 28, 2007

This looks like a watered-down version of other self-improvement books and reports like in goal setting and time management. It tries to accomplish much by not just focusing on New Year resolutions but also on briefly discussing other self-improvement principles. However, it fails in its attempt and just ends up weakening the already weak point it had to begin with. This report became a series of self-improvement articles with no “tightness” or coherence.

Perhaps I just read better self-help e-books and reports – hence, my disappointment with this report. But indeed, this report could have been written in a more organized manner. Instead of just throwing a series of articles together and relating them to New Year resolutions – yes, this is my impression of this report – the author could have just focused on New Year resolutions alone and introduced self-improvement principles which are only directly related to New Year resolutions.

Also, this report could have been more interesting if it had real-life examples or case studies and not just abstract principles.

Review Title: Must-read
Date Reviewed: December 30, 2007

This is one of the most comprehensive yet concise reports on traffic generation I have read so far. Many of the tips here can already be found in other e-books and reports, but this report gives the clearest and shortest yet detailed explanations. Each tip is only as short or as long as necessary. What’s more, the author recommended some useful links to help you follow through applying the tips. Recommended, NOT advertised, which is a world of difference.

What’s more, this e-book is not limited to the 22 techniques alone. There are also tips on how to get quality content, which is a must-learn in traffic generation.

This report is indeed a good resource for website owners. But however detailed the information here on each tip, these tips are just starters or brain teasers. The interested website owner would do well to research more on a tip he/she would like to use.

Review Title: Good read
Date Reviewed: December 30, 2007

This is one valuable resource for list building. Not only is the content informative, but the recommended links seem useful as well. As the author promises, it covers more than one technique – and very comprehensively. I also appreciate the author’s effort to provide separate advice for the beginning Internet marketer and the seasoned one, although I wish she would have discussed this in an introduction. List building advice especially targeted for the seasoned Internet marketer is something I rarely see.

I have always enjoyed Liz Tomey’s personal and entertaining writing style, which keeps me reading, no matter how long the text. Not to mention that her writing makes the information very easy to absorb. The e-book can be more personalized, though, if Tomey included personal anecdotes on how she or others applied the tips she wrote here.

Since this is quite a lengthy e-book, relevant photos or illustrations would be a nice break for the eyes.

That aside, though, this is a very good e-book.

Review Title: Good resource
Date Reviewed: December 30, 2007

At first I thought this was just another how-to resource in writing and marketing e-books and was just conveniently re-worded as “creating a private label rights product.” However, this proved to be different. The author really took the PLR lens – a good PLR product that will really sell – in writing this and was not just thinking of your ordinary information product. What’s more, information is provided in detail step-by-step, and even with a flowchart to clearly illustrate.

I wish, though, that there were specific illustrations for each step where appropriate to make things clearer, especially on the step on adding visuals and creating e-covers. Examples to illustrate these would make a world of a difference.

Also, though I agree with the steps outlined here, I believe the author missed one important detail. Before you can even begin your outline, you have to have your thesis statement or at least your main point summarized in one sentence. Otherwise, you might be adding unnecessary information in your outline – or worse, neglecting to put important information that would support your main point.

Review Title: Before you trade…
Date Reviewed: December 30, 2007

This is obviously a report designed for newbies at trading, although the seriously written text – makes me picture a frowning, bespectacled broker or fund manager – is quite daunting. But with patience and a genuine interest in trading, you will be able to absorb the information in this report. I wish, though, that this report were written in a lighter, personal way to make trading more “accessible,” as it is quite a serious subject.

That aside, though, this report, though just a sampler of a full e-book on trading, is already quite informative. It covers the basics in trading, including the definition of jargon commonly used. It gives the basic principles and advises you on the right mindset for trading, as indeed, many lose a lot of money because of the wrong mindset.

The charts here are all very appropriate and helpful in clarifying the information. Without that chart, it would be a challenge to understand the 1-2-3 concept, for example.

All in all, this is a good starter resource for aspiring traders.

Review Title: Could have been a unique e-book
Date Reviewed: December 30, 2007

I am a bit disappointed with the way this e-book was written, as I see a lot of potential with the information here. In the beginning, the information looked so-so to me – the usual healthy eating advice you see in other reports, e-books and even in popular media. There are even some redundant information here – I believe the sections “The Healthiest Foods You Can Get” and “The Healthiest Food Choices,” for example, can be merged in one section. The section on “Eating For A Healthy Heart” was also not well-incorporated here. Why single out heart disease prevention, say, over cancer and other terminal diseases? Had the author mentioned facts like heart disease is the leading cause of death or something like that, then singling out heart disease would have been justified.

Things began to get interesting, though, when I reached the sections on eating when under stress, holiday eating, eating during pregnancy, etc. This book was onto something. Why not instead of focusing on healthy eating in general, the author make it more specific, like “Eating Healthy Anytime, Anywhere?” After all, that is the interesting and majority portion of this e-book.

Also, while I appreciate that this e-book is both in print and audio format, I wish the audio could have been livelier and more engaging. As it is right now, the voice is a monotone all throughout the e-book.

Review Title: Timely advice
Date Reviewed: December 31, 2007

This e-book offers timely and relevant advice – our e-mail inboxes are indeed something we deal with everyday of almost everyday and seriously consumes valuable time. Indeed, doing the measures laid out in this e-book will help you save on a lot of time. The author even recommends programs that he used to his satisfaction.

I particularly found the advice on dealing with spam amusing yet true. Sometimes spam filters even filter out the valuable e-mails. Also, the information on autoresponders, however short compared with other reports and e-books, has a lot of meat to it.

This e-book is a breeze to read. The information is clear, brief and well-organized, not to mention well-written. There is even an introduction that provides a very good overview on what you can expect from the e-book. There are also screen captures to illustrate where appropriate.

Overall, this e-book is a short but informative read.

Review Title: Good read, but left me a bit hanging
Date Reviewed: December 31, 2007

Now that was brief but informative. In this short e-book, Lisa Taliga, a virtual assistant (VA) herself, was able to explain what a VA is, what the VA can look forward to, and what you should do before jumping into the fray and becoming a VA yourself.

As I understand that this e-book is a teaser to Taliga’s full and detailed e-book about being a VA, this is more about theory and principles than practice. That’s why, though I found this e-book informative, it left me hanging, although some might think in a good way – meaning, hanging and curious enough to get that full e-book. I wish, though, that Taliga could have given at least one case study here. Or perhaps a sample chapter would do the job. For me, that would be a more effective teaser for the full e-book.

That aside, though, this already gives good enough information, especially for anyone who’s considering freelancing.

Review Title: Crafts indeed look profitable and enjoyable
Date Reviewed: December 31, 2007

This e-book is a very informative and entertaining read. Though I am not a crafter myself, I enjoyed it immensely. Maria Vowell clearly loves what she is doing and is very enthusiastic and effective in sharing it with others. Her advice and stories are always personal and interesting, never boring. I would certainly remember her words even though I do not plan to go into crafts.

She covers everything basic and relevant about the crafts business – from creating to selling, and of course, the art of dealing with all kinds of customers. She freely shares all her learnings from her experiences. She seems genuinely interested to help others succeed in the crafts business.

I just wish, though, that all photos of the ten patterns she gave here are in full color – that would make them more appealing interesting. Also, some of the instructions could have been accompanied by illustrations to make things easier for those who would like to do the pattern. Other than those small details, though, this e-book is a very good read.

Review Title: Yummy and interesting
Date Reviewed: December 31, 2007

At first I thought this was your usual e-book on recipes, with a random or alphabetical listing of recipes and no other information whatsoever. This one, though, goes the extra mile by giving interesting background information and trivia about bread making – the history and the science behind it. The principles of bread making and what makes a good bread are discussed as well. Particularly interesting for me was the different ways of making bread – the old way, the modern way, etc.

Regardless of time they came from, all the recipes here look yummy and interesting. Not only bread is here but also biscuits and even sugar treats that not only look delicious but appear to be works of art as well – if done properly.

I appreciate that the recipes here are grouped according to category, unlike other recipe e-books that just list them randomly or alphabetically. It makes finding a recipe easier. But what this e-book can improve on is the layout and spacing (read: breathing space). The ingredients and the procedure can be separated, for one. Also, one recipe per page would be a better layout.

Review Title: Good advice
Date Reviewed: January 17, 2008

If you have problems keeping your New Year’s resolutions, this book is for you. Author Debra Thompson outlines in detail why people fail to fulfill their New Year’s resolutions and shows how you can be different.

I like that this book is detailed, yet clear and concise. It is written in a very personal and engaging tone as well. The advice is very specific and actionable, unlike some other New Year’s resolutions books I read before.

I also like the quotes from successful people here before the start of each section. And, there are some insightful “quotable quotes” from the author as well, for example, “Success is not an accident.”

My only nitpick is the way the colors were used in this book. While I have no problem with the occasional use of red to highlight points, large sections of red are quite an eyesore. Also, I cannot distinguish the difference in importance between the red text and the black text.

Also, section titles could be shortened for greater impact. For example, “Resolutions Require Conquering Procrastination” could be simply trimmed down to “Conquer Procrastination.”

Those minor nitpicks aside, though, this e-book is a great read.

Review Title: Inspiring read
Date Reviewed: January 18, 2008

This is a must-read for anyone who wants to be successful. What you need to get you started is right here. The author, Mohamed Tohami, says it all in inspiring, spellbinding words. I would even say his enthusiasm is quite contagious. His message is very beautifully said and I daresay, stirs your gut. I especially liked it when he said, “Only once I breathed it in, could the transformation begin.”

I agree with the author that indeed, passion is the lost emotion – or perhaps, the missing emotion that makes one comfortable in mediocrity. He very clearly shows in this e-book what passion can do.

I love the inspiring message and affirmations towards the end. If you fully absorb the words, you would feel their power.

There are just some problems in word choice and sentence construction in this book, though the author’s message is still very much powerful.

All in all, this is a great read.

Review Title: Good read
Date Reviewed: January 24, 2008

There are already so many fitness books in print and online, and I confess that I thought that this book was just one of those usual, run-of-the mill ones. However, after reading through this one, I must say it is a must-read for those who want to lose weight the SMART way, not the HARD way.

While I already know many of the information in this book, the writer presented it so well that I just kept reading. I especially like the part about the arguments or excuses people like to use to avoid exercising.

The FAQ format of some parts of this book is also a winner. It straightforwardly addresses concerns of the person who would like to exercise.

I also like the style of the author – very conversational and encouraging. It’s like she’s cheering you on towards your goal.

My only complaint with this book is that it could have been edited better. Plus, the sections are a bit confusing as the FAQs are mixed up with title sections.

Other than that, though, this book is a good read.

Review Title: Good advice, but please make book reader-friendly
Date Reviewed: January 24, 2008

These do look like golden rules any beginning Internet marketer should take to heart. These are principles here based on facts and other people’s experience.

Among the rules, I like the part about working smart versus working hard. I also like how the author explained the importance of the unique selling proposition (USP). This is quite important as some newbie Internet marketers tend to forget this very crucial element to their success or failure.

However, this report could use some improvement. For one, there are just too many grammatical errors – some very glaring – that they are quite distracting already. To me, they are also irritating. The author should definitely hire a good editor.

The book title splashed diagonally across every page also does not help in adding impact to the author’s message – it only distracts.

While the advice in this report is quite good, some readers may be turned off with the author’s writing. The author would do well to revise this report or have it gone over by a competent editor.

I like how this guy puts things very simply – and of course, in a way that is sensible and actionable to the reader. His book is teeming with useful tips based on his experience – which sounds quite credible. Most of the tips look new and very insightful to me. I think I can believe him that the tips in this e-book are from his “original thinking.”

The author’s experience on how his website got to – and stayed – on page 1 in Google is definitely worth reading. His idea about a Google-approved sitemap, in particular, is quite a winner. I also found his advice on how to protect downloads quite valuable.

There is also a part towards the end about mind power – on how to ask and receive advice in doing your online business. I like how the author did it.

He makes things sound quite simple, yet doing them would probably make a world of difference in your business.

Review Title: A gem of a read
Date Reviewed: January 24, 2008

Weight loss books that offer new, practical and insightful advice are hard to come by these days, but this book definitely makes the cut. I like how the author Darlene Nicholson combined the principles of mind power with the practical actions for weight loss. Best of all, she shares her life story which can draw inspiration and makes one think – if she, the sickly one, can do it, why can’t I? I believe this is what is most special about this book.

The author has this cheerleader and encouraging friend approach all throughout the book, which I think makes the advice here all the more powerful. The motivational quotes she occasionally puts here are also winners. Nicholson also adds a bit of humor – I like her take on dieting: “Diets = Deprivation = Suffering = SUCKS!” And yes, she shows that there is indeed a better way.

This book is definitely a must-read for anyone who wants to lose weight.
